Ok, i have magnaflow exhaust and a cai and i want to get more hp as well as more air flow. What should i get 1st:
-Street Arsenal Ported Throttle Body
-Street Arsenal Ported Upper Intake Manifold OR
-Street Arsenal Ported Lower Intake Manifold
Or, should i get those in that order. Can anyone comment on these products and tell me which ones i should buy and what do i buy first, or if i should buy them at all. Please tell me your performance differences with these products. Thank you much!!
I have a 3400 v6

I wouldn't waste my money on the throttle body. You'll see absolutly no gain with it. It uses the stock size throttle blade so it can't flow anymore air. You need to get a bored out TB like the RSM racing 61mm, or APOC's 62mm TB. The street arsenal upper and lower intakes would be good. Just remember that the porting doesn't go all the way through the intakes, because they can't reach everything inside. Extrude honing your intake manifolds would be better, but would cost $500 versus $225 for the SA stuff after the core charge refund. I think the best thing they make is the stage 2 heads ($1,030). The stage 1 heads ($530)don't have nearly as much work done to them.
For a good start I'd do this.
1) RSM throttle body- $230
2) SA upper/lower intakes- $225
total: $455
Add stage 2 heads for a great setup.
3) SA stage2 heads- $1,030
total: $1,485
This should get you a decent power gain at the wheels and shouldn't affect drivability or fuel economy because you're improving the engine's efficiency.:)

Thanx guys for your help. Much appreciated. But one more question, for the upper and lower intake manifolds, whats the difference between powdered and unpowdered. Is it just the way it looks?

The powder coating is very nice, but I wouldn't have them do it. SA wants an extra $150 each to do it. That's ridiculous! There are small order powder coating places around me that will do both for between $100 and $150. I'm not sure by you, but you live in chicago and that's an industrial area. There should be some powder coating places by you. Check around first and see who you can find and what they'll charge.:)

Aarongtr, where are you getting the price of both manifolds @ $225? I'm taking my car in soon for the lower intake manifold gasket. The mechanic said he wouldn't have a problem putting in the aftermarket products instead of the new ones as long as their isn't any bolt up issues, so I'm getting free install. Helps not having to buy the Helm catalog to change the LIM.
Also, have you looked into any machine shops around here for head work? I think I'm going to start calling next month.

Thx, but yes I know he was talkinga bout street arsenal. It's just that the prices on there are $175 for the UIM and $250 for the LIM. Thats $425 for both, not including core. So I was just curious if those were msrp, and you could get them cheaper somewhere else. And if that is true, where can I get both for $225, cuz I'll go get both right now.

kay, and it is pretty cool that the mechanic is doing it for me. Best thing is that it's the dealership mechanic, I'm taking it in on warranty so its allll free, cept the manifolds. Well manifolds and I'm going to get the fel pro gaskets as well, I don't want to get another crappy GM gasket on and have it happen to me again.

Jez, talk about the sweet set-up. I doubt any dealership near me would do that. That is perfect don't have to pay for labor, get ported upper and lower intakes with a better gasket installed. Good job on finding what sounds like a sweet dealership.

I had figured that much out as well, but whenever I goto a parts store, the core charge is added on top of the price quoted, not deducted from it. I guess I'll just have to call street arsenal to verify this. If this is true, I'll be ordering next week.
