Man that looks pretty good. To get the side skirts on do you have to keep the gt molding on? And how is the fitment?

nice, looks real good, been waiting to see for a while

how does the exhuast fit that rear clip, i cant see your exhaust tips

SAllen0400

the sidskirts fit on over your current GT moldings. As for the exhaust....I need to extend my tips a little bit. the rear bumper hides them.

looking at the side view...that rear bumper looks horrible...like how it goes out a little too much by the wheel well..it should have been more straight down in that area instead of that far backwards

SAllen0400
03-02-2003, 04:35 PM
Your right....the side skirts don't blend in very well. That is the only thing i don't like about the kit, but thats just being picky. Later on I think i am gonna have it taken to a body shop and get them molded in.

ONEGRANDAM2NV
03-02-2003, 05:30 PM
i think that the side skirts would have blended with the rest of the car better if you would have tooken off the side molding.

I must say, I loved your car before when you first posted pictures.

When posting pictures, you must be able to accept the criticism. So here it comes :D

AAS went about that kit all wrong. All that kit did was make the pinched front end, looking more elongated, and the backend piece is completely destroying any chance of glory from the rear end shot. I know gutter guard will fill in the gaps, but you can see straight to the sheet metal! They tried to incorporate too much of the ricer design into that thing. Tried to make it small and outrageous like a Civic in the front, and big and bulky like an Eclipse. As for the sides..you can immediately tell they're add-on, no blending properties whatsoever.

I'm not hating on your car at all man, that is just my analogy of the AAS kit and what it did with those angles in those shots. Your car is still gorgeous, and yes..SILVER OWNZ

i am by no means flaming you, sallen, cause that kit looks sweet on ur car, but i also noticed that in the front, they decided to put like a license plate cover, but in the middle of making it decided not to, and made like a half indentation of a license plate inlay. i think they should have made it all smooth instead of that indentation where it looks like a license plate goes. just my opinion, but i like the kit alot.

Im pretty sure its the same height as the rest but those 2 dumbass holes in the front made it seem like the height changed but it didnt. if you look closely you can se under those 2 rectangles that its the same height...if this makes any sense

viper i dont know if were on the same page here so i will elaborate more. i am talking about the rectangle indentation between the 2 rectangle holes. was kind of lost on what u said, so i wanted to make sure we were on the same page.

the rectangle holes dont bother me at all, its the rectangular indentation that looks like it would fit half of the license plate on there.

IMO, the rear stick down just a bit too far. But over all I love it.

edit: F'in sh** yep there is an indentation there, i kept looking at the first picture wchich would prove my original point but when u look at the straight on pic there is definately an indentation...if it wasnt for those 2 damn rectangles:mad:

My opinion on what would look sweet...
http://members.aol.com/mikent256/AASmod.jpg

Rather than have the front long and lifted, and the back high and extended, the front is dropped lower, front nostrils enlarged (to hopefully take better advantage of the Ram Air), sides are blended nicer into the stock rockers, and rear is dropped lower. It isn't the best photoshop i've done, but it portrays somewhat of an idea. And, the silver tint is a special touch lol

AMRAAM4

SAllen, car looks beautiful in silver, with the wheels and coloring. The kit even turned out better than I expected....HOWEVER

...WTF where they thinking with the back bumper??????? You can see the impact beam through it! It sits to high up. And from the side you can see the fenderwell flars back too damn far, like it is being pulled backwards. If they would have handled that back piece better, I think *** would be shaking in their boots (although they wouldn't admit it).

03-02-2003, 10:41 PM
I think the strip right below the nostrils... where its only wide enough for about half of a license plate, is just to thin. Looks kinda funny to me, like there is just too much empty space in front. Also those side moldings really kinda stick out. The car still looks really sweet. It's something different and will just take a lil getting used to.... and you certainly can't go wrong with a silver car

The APoC & Civic CAI are completely exposed to all elements. You can see straight from the front of it, the right bottom opening shows the CAI perfectly. So rocks, rain, snow, and everything else that can be kicked up is thrown right at it. In my opinion, you'd be a doing a lot of cleaning with it (which isn't bad cuz you can reach it easily now to get to it). lol...but I don't think I'd want to have it. We are going to produce a black plastic shield for Pucci so he can put his back in.

My opinion, looks good, but the few things I agree with, blending of the rockers, that's a must when one would go to get it painted, have them blend that up. The front, fill the two square whole by the license plate indention and the sides of the front towards the bottom right by the wheel, they flair out too much for my liking, I would've like them brought in towards the center of the car a little more. Make them line up with the wheel a little more instead of flairing out. Rear...honestly, I don't think they did anything right with it, I just can't warm up to it.

However, just from the point of a new body kit, AWESOME!!! Definitely looks much better painted than black primered...hehe.

Good job!

Yeah, the silvermist metallic color of the 99 GA's is hard to match as it's almost two-toned silver/copper. Also, because each of the two kits are flat on the sides of the front fascia the light tends to reflect differently than on the front fenders.

SAllen0400
03-03-2003, 06:37 PM
Actually, I'm not sure if the paint matches perfectly or not. The body kit, is brand new, clean paint, and the rest of my car hadn't been washed in about a week. So, that might have something to do with it.

StarFire
03-03-2003, 07:35 PM
I agree, it's either in need of washing (cuz kit is newly painted) or either the body shop didn't do a good job on the paint job...?! I just had my front fender replaced along with blended into the door hood and front bumper. Metallic Silver is hard, but not impossible by any means. I dare anyone to tell that I got a new bumper and it painted. I've gotten a bunch of people already doubting that it was replaced (meanwhile they know that it was, cuz they saw it before).

Anyways, I think if it's the paint job, the place didn't do a good job of painting, or was not blended.

When i first seen the AAS body kit I didn't like it as much as the *** but after close observation of both body kits. I am now set on the AAS kit. It seems more aerodynamic and just looks better all around. I love the new rear bumper, but i don't like the non-sense holes in the front facia but that can be taking care of very easily. Also another thing I would do is remove the ribs from the side of the doors and mold the rest of the side skirts in. I plan on purchasing this body kit sometime this summer. A black GAGT with the AAS body kit now that would look great!

Looks great SAllen... I can't wait to get mine installed.. still another 3 or so weeks away. :(

My GA is a white 4 door, so It will look similar to the demo on the AAS site, and much different that yours. I havn't thought of much to customize yet, waiting to get it on and see it first. :) (i'm going with blue interior and graphix i think!)

I wanted to take the ribs off the sides before i installed the rockers. I know you couldn't do it, but I'm hoping I can get away with it, cuz the rockers are a straight peice, cuz of the 4dr. That will also take away from the extra depth that seems to be there.
I bet you could have taken them off first! hehe

so how does that kit fit, any idea? how much bondo they had to add? I agrre the front squares need to go and the plate knock out, blind the sides and gutter guard the hell outta it and your good to go. but that would be my dream kit. 700 for that or 1600 for *** I would go with AAS. Whats it made out of and how would you add material to it? Like to blend the sides and what not. Laters

The kit looks much better painted and on the car than I thought it would. You should have tried to find some way to get rid of the side cladding though. It doesn't match the front and rear bumpers so it looks weird. If I got that kit, I would fill in those square holes they put under the ram air nostrils and the vents in the rear bumper behind the wheels. They tried to add to much to the car and it looks "busy". They don't fit the cars' style. Overall it still looks more aggressive than stock though. Nice job.

Sik- I havn't decided whether to leave the strip or not. i probably should get rid of it though.

there is still a lot of stuff i need to do to the kit. Even before you guys posted all your opinions, I planned on getting the side panels molded into the side piece, so it looks all like one big piece. I think that will make the sides look a ton better. I just posted a pic right after i got it put on so everyone could see what one actually looked like painted. I too have my little picky dislikes about the kit, but overall I think it looks good. Unless you yourself personally design a kit for your car, there will always be little dislikes that you have. Anyway, thanks for the comments. Good and bad.

When a company makes a kit for a different car but same style everyone complains that "that looks too much like this car I'll never get it"

But when, say *** came out with their Alero and GP kits.. or different kits for the 92-95 GAs.. Or the same style tail lights for 99+ and 96-98 GA's.... ???

I think saying something is junk just because it is made for another car should have nothing to do your liking it. You either like it because it looks good, or don't like it because it looks bad.

Saying it looks bad because there's that kit available for a civic or a neon? Come on now.

Um, who's bitching? All I said was it was hideous in ANOTHER thread describing it.

I'm so sick of seeing everyone praising something when they honestly dislike it. Or pulling the brotherly love scheme of never saying one bad thing to someone! When you post pictures, you're opening yourself up to criticism, its simple as that. And I criticised it, just like the others who posted as well. Mine isn't approving of the kit, but so what? I'm supposed to be like everyone else and love what everyone else loves?

Tell it to someone else, seriously. You want me to be happy for a company to do stuff for our cars? How about:

1) Engine Reinforcements
2) Tranny Fortifications
3) Personal ECM tuning capability.

Not some ricer-ass body kit..

Sean you should be proud you have such a unique car.
couldn't agree more...... it's about the uniqueness of the car. SAllen isn't the one getting bent outta shape about the opinions of kit and he's the one that owns the kit. people need to chill out and learn to agree to disagree.

PS......SAllen your car is looks totally awesome! i know i said it once before but seroiusly that car looks soo sick i can't believe how sweet it looks. at school i was on the site and pulled up your pics and the guys nearly pooped there pants when they saw it!

I apologise for all the bitchin', i took something very wrong, m bad. But like MikeNT256 i agree, when you show your car, theres always critics, some like the look, some dont. Thats just the way it is. Im just happy to see that the products for GA's are starting to expand. Great job Saleen, but i would like to see the SC/T kit on there, but do your thing man. Again, sorry for all the crap guys, MY BAD.

You all are entitled to your feelings, but find a more mature way to express them or do not at all.

the car looks good!!! i am not dissing anyone and am by no means a hater. but i have seen both kits in person. and the Andy's kit doesnt hold a candle to the ***. trust me!! i wont go into details because i dont want to ruffle any feathers. but there is a HUGE difference in the quality of the kits!!

i agree with posting up you open yourself up to critism but the comments that you posted where outta line. its not what you say its HOW you say it...ppl expressed there PREFREANCE but openly insulting someones car is bad pool, like calling it hideous and ricer this and ricer that....hell *** COULD be called a ricer kit to if you wanted it to...just cause it doesn't come on import cars doesn't me it doesn't LOOK ****...a nice car is a nice car...I like *** and AAS, but why openly insult someone that had put down there hard earned money to call it "hideous" come on man...most everyone played it right sayin' what they prefer... and I do praise companys that do things like engine fortifying and tranny work...granted they are rare, but we as a community just need to take what we are given...**** ass body kit...so frickin' what....dirty pool man...dirty pool.

Ok, since you want it this way... This kit looks like crap IMO. Just because someone makes it, doesn't mean it deserves my respect. As for the *** kit, I don't like it either. But I'd honestly say I'd buy it over this. Is this a better expression of my opinion? I mean, I could go on more, if that's what you'd like. Oh well, it's his car, and it's his Impact Beam that everyone is staring at, and his side panels that look like a 10 year old glued on, enjoy your car SAllen. I'm with Mike on this... not worth getting into.

For the second time. I never called the kit hideous in this thread. My words were quoted from another kit when someone was trying to decide on it. I love SAllens car, but the kit IMO, just didn't help it at all. I'm not insulting at all, just criticising. Feel free to criticize my SC/T kit all you want. I'll be ready for it.

yeah something like that...I read that thread about your hissy fit with the guy from pfyc.....if I were him I'd send you your money back and tell you to **** off. but in the light of "gentle critism" ...thats my opinion, we all just need to lighten up about the AAS kit the debate and negative comments are old.

happy...changed it up...it was a little over the top

You only know half the story son.

If you have a problem, i'd be more than happy to take it up with you in PM's. Otherwise, we can stop with the irrelevant talk about negativity. If you think negative comments are old, you haven't seen the real world.

Well, Mike's just impatient to get what he's already paid for. That's not necessarily asking for a lot. As for saying he's not worth the dirt you walk on, that's a bit over the top, don't you think? Taking this kind of personal? And negative comments are part of life. You'll just have to learn to deal with them, because their always going to be around.

I think you need to lighten up, whats with the rude comment about not being worth the dirt you walk on? You need to chill out. This whole board is based on members who are close, and share their feelings and what they think about stuff. If you cant handle that, im sure theres another Grandam forum waiting for a new member.

Oh trust me know one should, thats the phattest kit so far. Id much rather have that kit. If ihd a GT i would not buy AAS or ***. Im not a big fan of huge body kits and wings and all that. I got mine cause i needed something. Im ready to get rid of my car, i hate all the frickin attention, and how everyone and there mother knows who i am around here b/c of my car, well very off topic, but the last two pages of this thread have had nothing to do with Saleens car. Oh well.

I personally love the ***'s front valence. I'd get that body kit without a doubt if I didn't live in Michigan lol

I know we have been very off-topic. Out of respect for SAllen, I will delete all my posts if he would like the thread to be cleaned up.

Cool, maybe you should go back to "the other" place and sing Kumbaya and hold hands. All they do over there whenever they get the chance is bash this place. And then a mod comes back over here and posts wtf Kinda two-face. OK, Mr Supercharged/Touring car? Now let's drop this BS

I have watched this thread since the beginning with hopes that it would settle down and just when I thought it would, the trash talk comes up again.....What do us mods of All Show have to do implement a NO BODY KIT THREADS PEROID! rule??????

This is another fine example of "If you can't say something nice....." If you don't like it, say so with tact and simply say "not my style" or "I would have done the back end different" Come on, it's really not that hard.

And on that note ANOTHER body kit thread DONE
