Hello everybody:wave: ,
I ve been registered for quite some time just had some issues with getting my access to the forum going. Nice to finally join you all. I look forward to joining in the on the conversations. Anyway i was wondering about 18" rims. How well do they ride? I was thinking about getting 18"'s but im just worried that you cant really drive that much with them. I love the looks of them but if you cant ride on them im just going to go with 17's. If you have pictures of 17's and 18's please post as well. So far i love the eagle 077 series. Oh i have a 03' grand am GT1

Look forward to your responces,

Michael

well i dont think there is anything wrong with getting 18. Just keep the tire and rims to the appropriate size. bigger rim, thinner tire. I think the only thing this may cause is a bit (not much) rouger ride since the tire has to be under a certain amount of pressure to hold up. and there isnt much distance from the rim and tire.

Personally, I think it rides better with 18s and 225/40/18's. I can't wait to put my 18s back on, the 16 inch stockers and RSAs are junk.

I drive on 18s just like any other wheel, however, if I have time to react to something in the road (pothole) I do. But then again don't most people do that anyhow?

So are you saying that the car handles just as good with 18" wheels. The tire can handle sharp turns and long distant travels? I know this sounds stupid but i just want to be sure before i get them

an 18" rim with a lower profile tire is designed to handle better do to its dimensions.

What does length of drive have to do with rim size? If you mean tire wear, 225/40/18s won't last as long as the RSgAys

personally, i'd shop around some local shops, see if you can get a deal. i found my 18s with tires for 1500 and tax at a local shop. the 18s are great. i wouldn't trade 'em for the world. 17s definitely don't have the WOW effect of 18s, in my opinion. i drive carefully on 'em, and i've had no troubles. i've run over a dead dog that was too big to straddle (yes, i tried; it was huge), hit unexpected and unmarked road contruction bumps, etc., and they're holding up fine. just be careful and treat them well, and you won't have any problems.

225/40/18 tires are the right choice for 18" rims correct? Specifically the 077 series 18x8's. Stock being 225/50/16
