Alrighty..so I have dynamat on my rear deck and front doors. Yet since i've gotten subs, I've noticed this hideous rattle that sounds almost like the subs are popping. So I sat in the back, turned the volume up and sure enough, its the middle of the rear deck. Theres nothing under there to support it, so what was wonder was, does anyone know what I should do to support that spot so it doesn't rattle? I'm ready to just cut a Styrofoam cut out and shove it under the deck to keep it quiet! Any suggestions?
The amount of styrofoam you'd need would probably cause an unsightly bump. Any less and the deck will probably still make a noise as it vibrates and hits the piece of styrofoam.
If you've got the rear seats that fold down, the release cables for those make a lot of noise as well. I'd tape them down with duct tape...
Anyways, a can of expanding foam works great for any rattles, especially the rear deck. Squirt a couple shots underneath and let it cure...just don't use too much (and don't plan on getting the rear deck back off again).

You have a point. The stryofoam would just make it lift up.
I went outside and tuned the bass down a tad to stop the rattle. I think what I'll do is when I actually am ready to change all my speakers out, i'll spray the foam down after i'm done, this way I won't have to access the rear deck again.

Remember, anytime your working with a car, use 'minimal' expanding foam. It may be called 'for doors and windows' or something like that. Otherwise, if you get it in the wrong place, the expantion could screw up your sheet metal .

There are different "levels" of expanding foam, that expand different amounts. If you get the super duper expanding stuff, it will bend sheetmetal in it's quest for more room if you put too much on too small of a spot. The rear deck would be small potatos for it to bend in half and then some.
I would recomend a thin foam pad glued down under the rear deck. Doesn't even have to fill the whole gap, just soften the impact between the two pieces (rear decklid and metal substructure) when they shake. Also note, if you have a 3rd brakelight on the rear deck or on the ceiling (like mine), the plastic likes to rattle against the rear glass. Yet another wonderful application for foam insulating tape. Other applications for this stuff over dynamat or expanding foam include the ever annoying front seat side panels (where the seatbelt comes out, both the seatbelt itself and that two piece panel like to rattle against the B pillar metal underneath), random factory wire loom runs (under the rear deck, and in the tailight assemblies), and door panels.
Have fun!

My rear deck rattled to at one point. I had an old white eraser that i just jammed in between the rear deck and the rear window. Now the rattling stopped.

Hey esco, behind the bumper is a plastic mounting piece. This this is pretty big, and rattles like hell. Take the bumper off and find a way to mount it more securely, or deaden it. You could simple deaden so much behind it that it doesn't "flap" against the car anymore. Whatever. Just keep it from slapping against the car with the bass and you'll be fine.
Unfortunately, we all have that problem, and it's not easy to fix.
You're in CT, and so am I. If you ever want to get together so I can show you what I mean, let me know. My bumper is currently off. Even if it's on, it's no problem to take it back off again.

i would get some of that thick double sided tape, that is black and almost like a foam, peel up the rear deck, then lay quite a few strips on there and press it down, that stuff is strong and would keep your rear deck down and not too thick to be obvious somthing is underthere
