Just got a new battery for my 2001. 2nd warranty replacement by the way. For the desert SW, the AC Delco professional 74 month batteries have a tendency to leak from the pos. terminal. My dealer does alot of these swaps.

The battery warranty works like this. Its covered by the base 3 year/36K mile. If you get a waranty replacement at 35,999 and it leaks next week your outta luck, unless the warranty rep is cool.

If you buy one then of course its covered for the full 74 months reguardless.

So check your batteries my fellow Las Vegas inhabitants. Its starting to get hot out there.

Any part replaced under warranty is covered for the longer of the balance of the 36/36 or 12/12, this includes batteries. So your 35,999 battery would have the warranty last until 47,999.

Yup batterys replaced under factory warranty are only covered till the warrenty runs out, no prorating either. Outside of warranty its 1 or 2 year free replacement(depending on battery you buy) then prorated after that for the appropriate time.

Batterys are an exception, there are some oddball items and not even the people at the dealer may be full aware of it untill they get burned by GM or blasted by a customer for not handling it right.

Checked back with my source. GM Warranty book in chapter 1.5.11 paragraph b says battery repalced during bumper-to-bumper is the longer of the bumper-to-bumper or 12 months/12,000 miles.
