That looks really sharp, but is that GT heavily reinforced? If not, it's gotta vibrate like mad. Mad props on the idea...I hope it holds up for ya.

knappy1, yes it is reinforced it has wood supports almost about everywhere, I can actually put stuff in the trunk not that i would do it but I can put the pare tire in case I go on a trip or something like that. Thanks for all the compliments .

why does it have to be reinforced? what kind of springs do they call those??? I just dont understand is that a joke about teh heavy reinforcement?

09-14-2002, 01:06 PM
If you look at the cut out in the trunk of the "GT" over the subs, it looks like it would vibrate really bad...but he's reinforced it so that it won't rattle. No jokes, just curious what he did to make it durable.

ohhhhh I got ya knappy... lol I thought u mean like reinforce the whole car frame because of the cutout... lol I was like thinking... jeeze man reinforce the whole car with like bigger strut bars or something sway bars... why!??! lol I got ya though..

how do the intrax springs ride?? i like the box. later.
maurice
09-14-2002, 04:58 PM
The intrax ride beautifull its just a bit more bumpier but you get use to it and at high speeds on curves it just hugs them it is worth doing the change. By the way knappy my trunk ratles a lot since you have the same set up that I have with the subs in the spare tire hole what did you do to stop it from ratling. I talked to a couple of people and they have told me that dynamat would work, I dont think it would. any help or sugestions are greatly appreciat it. thanks.
Knappy1
09-14-2002, 06:19 PM
Start with dynamat, then see what is still rattling. I've used everything from dynamat, spray insulation, undercoating, doublesided tape, you name it...and I still have rattles. My biggest problem now is trying to get the fiberglass bumpers to stop rattling...and my neon lights rattle like no other.

I was getting rattling from something in the car the other day and it took me a week or so before I figured out it was the rear view mirror. What would you guys suggest to stop it from rattling?
And awesome install man! I glanced at it the other day and was like, "Cool...a GT see through box." It wasnt until today did I realize they were installed in the floor of the trunk! Your's and Knappy's have got to be some of the most creative installs I've seen in GA's! Keep up the tight work!

Here's an almost finished pic of the install I'm doing on my 96. I've spent about a week playing around with designs and shapes, but I'm really happy with the way it came out.

Maurice, car looks great man. First time I have seen you on here, and your ride, welcome! I was skeptical of those rims everytime I have seen them on tirerack, but they look really good.
I too am also interested in where you (and others) found Intrax springs, and their cost? HMMM, I have H&R's now and have always been a bit unsatisfied with the high ass end. Maybe that will eb a new thing for this upcoming season, more drop to...to stick to them curves better with the SC!!!!!

amraam4, i been on this site for ever ever since it started i dont post much because i dont have that much time in my hands but im in this site every day checking the rides and comments, about the intrax springs i got them from summit racing dont know a part number, but if u call them and ask them about the intrax for a grand am 2000 theyl let u know they have them they were about 180 or so. I love the way the car handles and it dropped it just the right amount i was looking for. thanks for the compliments if any more questions feel free to ask

Very nice install maurice. I am in the middle of designing a set-up for my GT. I am going with 1 15inch eclipse aluminum sub and a fosgate bd500 to power it. Along with another fosgate amp for the mains. It is so hard deciding what to do because of the possiblities. Thanks for sharing your's. The car looks great lowered too.
