Hello! I'll be in the Toronto area in late April/May timeframe to get work done at RSM. I figured RSM will need a day or 2 to do the work, so I figured I'd take a vacation and see Toronto.
Any recommendations on where to go or what to do? I've never been to Canada before ...
Anyone know a good place to buy Cubans???

There are a lot of Cigar Stores around. Just ask when you get there, or if you go downtown, you won't miss them. Lots to see! Depends what you are looking for.

I'm looking for typical American tourist stuff! :D
My thoughts are: Zoo, Hippo tour, tower, etc. I'd like to find a good Blues club to hang at one night. Any recommendations on where to stay? I want a good, middle-price range hotel. I'll probably be there over an extended weekend (F-M).
How is transportation downtown? Obviously the car will be out of commission while it is being rebuilt, but should I get a rental or is public transportation good enough?

Thats in Oakville, little out of the way without a car.
CN tower is good, Zoo, Royal Ontario Museum is cool. Casa Loma, There are a LOT of hotels, near the airport, etc. Do a hotel search on Expedia.ca or something like that, list em, and we'll help you pick one.

I stayed at the Delta Chelsea a few years back, walking distance of most downtown attractions (CN Tower, etc) and it was quite nice and the prices were reasonable. :)

OK, I'm looking at:
Metropolitan Hotel
Hotel Victoria
Delta Chelsea
Le Royal Meridien
Strathcona
I want something within walking distance to the downtown attractions. Preferably centrally-located. Not big into the "wild" night-club scene, so something on the "tamer" side of town near some Blues and Jazz clubs ...

the Montreal jazz bar on Sherbourne just north of Adelade is supposed to be pretty good, I'm more into the hardcore clubbing but whatever, when you dropping your ride off? Friday morning?

If you're into jazz/blues check out The Rex:

I went there years ago for a friends birthday- very smokey from what I remember, but it was ok- not really my thing though.
Check out toronto.com it will help you in your search and we can help if we've been there or not.
Definitely go to the zoo, CN tower, and anything else you can possibly squeeze in the three days you will be up here. There are a few strip clubs on Yonge street (downtown) and there are a few actually around the corner from RSM ;)
I would look into renting a car though- it would be more convenient (and possibly cheaper) than cabbing it or taking public transit.
If you need any help us T.O. area people can help you out..all you have to do is ask.

Actually, the Brass Rail is on Yonge St just south of Bloor. It's about 2 blocks from my work. lol The one you're thinking of is Pure Gold. And if you go there on a Friday, you might just run into Ron McLean from HNIC. :D

Well Ron goes to Pure Gold in Oakville, I haven't seen him there personally. It's been a while since I've been to "The Gold". And no, I don't go to the BR on my lunches, although I do know a few people here who've done it a few times.
Nasty nekkid girlies are the last thing I want to see during my lunch hour. lol

Well, given that Dougie got re-signed to the Leafs (woohoo!), you might find him too. His daughter goes to the school my mom teaches at.
