I have a question for everyone???? I saw a reply from someone on tirerack.com about the RS-A tires on our car. He said that after 2 bad sets of RS-A's on his Grand Am he took them back and Good Year bought him 4 tires of his choise. Has this happend to anyone else. Because I just put 4 new RS-A:vomit: on my car back last May, and the tred is almost worn out, weard noises come from the tire, and they are horrible in rain and snow. Can someone please help me out, because I want different tires, and also cause I think Im going to get the 18" American Eagles. Thanks for your help.

There are several threads regarding the RS-A tires on the GT. Almost everyone had the strange noise coming from the tires. I managed to keep mine for 45K miles before I couldn't stand the noise any longer and replaced them, but not by the dealer. I never had any problems with the tread, and they were decent in the snow/ice.
I have never had any problems in the snow, or with tread life. A set on my previous car (Dodge Avenger) lasted 50,000 miles, and would have lasted more, but the car was out of alignment and it wore the tire on the inside edge.
I have 28,000 on the stock RSA's and all indications point to getting about 50K on these too, but they are making the noise talked about in the TSB (do a search). Dealer has not read TSB carefully, and wanted to clean/re-mount them, but I had to get a brake job first before he would look at it.
They replace them (or should) under warrantee with newer RSA's that don't have the grooves down by the edge of the rim (which is what causes the noise).

I got rid of my RSA's before the TSB came out. I did end up getting over 60k miles on them but the tread started to wear uneven and the road noise was horrible. They did OK in rain and snow, but once you get a set of tires that are great you know what you've been missing. I've had nothing but trouble with several GY tires. They seem to have a tread seperation problem.
Good luck on trying to get them to replace your tires. Only way your going to find out is to call them.

I guess I am going to have to just go up to the Good Year place here and see what they are going to do about it. I did do a search and didnt find the info I wanted, about if the GY supplier bought anyone some new tires because of all the problems. Some of you said that the tires did ok in the snow for you, I take it you have never been to this dump ERIE,PA....it sucks up here in the winter, and those tires sucked. Oh well, thanks for your help. If anyone else had their problem solved by Good Year please post it up. Thanks again.

I experienced all the same problems and noises near the end. One of the back tires blew when I was driving home from work. I had GY replace it, but they made me buy it. Once I went back to the dealer they questioned the difference between the newer one and the older three. I told them what had happened. They ordered me 3 new tires for free. This was a year ago I guess, but I didn't complain at the time. I'm pretty sure the tires had the problem described by VaGT. Oh well, paid for one and got 4.

I had my stock RS-A's (rear 2 tires) on up until a few weeks ago. At that time I had 45k miles on my car. Thanks to the RS-A's (and not being too smart) I hydroplaned and ended up getting together with a concrete barrier. For a while I had 2 RS-A's on the rear and some Goodyear TR's on the front. A couple weeks ago I got some verrrrrrrry nice Yokohama ES100's, they are soooooo much better at handling, grip, rain/dry traction! Goodyear's suck, if you can afford it, get some different tires.

I agree they do suck. iI'm gettin rid of mine soon. I never had any luck with Goodyear. On my old 89 TA I had the "gator back" goodyears, very expensive back then & those damn things wouldn't hold to the rim when I'd accelerate hard. They'd actually spin on the rim. Now I get my GA & have more junk ass Goodyears to deal with. (But not for long!) Any suggestions on AMERICAN tires? Cooper Cobra GTS's used to be a kick ass tire 4 the money,.... Anyone tried BF Goodrich?

check out the tire database, i believe it's in the performance section on here. that will give you an idea of good tires.
Before the 00 got traded the dealer gave us new rs/a's
we gave the car back with the old tires so i have 4 rs/a's new that i have no use for
