On the ride home the other night, I looked over and in the next lane was a DeLorean in all its stainless steel glory! It was in decent shape too. I noticed that both the driver's side and passenger side windows had little cutouts, trimmed in black rubber gasket, almost like a window within a window. Does anyone know what the purpose of these are? Does it have something to do with the gull-wing doors?
It's funny that I saw the DeLorean, because just a couple weeks ago I bought the Back to the Future trilogy on DVD and watched all the movies. It was so funny to see the DeLorean with big whitewall tires in the third movie!

The purpose of those little windows are they are the ones that go up and down the big windows are stationary. A freind of mine used to own one a few years ago so when I got a ride in it seemed weird that the little windows were the only ones that moved. Felt a little boxed in inside the car.

Wow - that's pretty bizarre. Maybe they couldn't get the mechanics to work for the entire window to go down on a gull wing door. Those little windows are tiny! I could see why you'd feel boxed in. Kinda like the old Pontiac Fiero.
The Subaru svx is like that. I wouldn't mind a delorean as a collector car.

Some guy in the town wwhere I work has one of those heaps. Just saw it on Saturday. Granted they had really cool styling for the early 80's, but they were awfully slow. I don't know, I was just never very impressed with them. I guess it used to be kinda cool to see one here and there, it's just old to me now. To each his own I guess...

Hopefully it wasn't going 88mph, or it would have gone "Back to the Future" :D

Is that what that crazy flash of light and flaming skid marks were? That and a license plate spinning around were all I saw...

Now that's funny! Speaking of slow, I think they only had 165 HP engines.

It's near impossible to hit even 70 in those things...they weigh a TON and then some.
You could be going downhill and hit 73. ;)
Weren't they designed by some major drug dealer...multi billionaire drug dealer? Or some mafia guy? Lol
I know they didn't last long on the market!

yeah, John Z. DeLorean
and if you look at the door while its open (read: up) the door is curved, so you wouldn't be able to have the window go down into the door frame
