My new favorite toy my 2002 Yamaha YZF600R
http://www.ecmotorsports.com/yzf001.jpg
My new Yamaha with my old 1982 Yamaha Maxim 400 with 7,300 original miles.
Also not shown is my 5x8 box trailer that is also black with chrome wheels, and my recently aquired wrecked '83 Z28 powered by a L69 backed by a T5. The trailer will be getting de-stickered and restickered with some EastCoast graphics. It will haul club stuff to events and the drag strip. And hopfully load my bike into it and head for Deals Gap to run the Dragon on my bike.
The Z28 was taken as partical trade for my old '81 TA. Not sure what I'm going to do with it but I'd like to slap a fiberglass nose on it and 150-200shot of N2O and go beat the crap out of it. And my Yamaha Maxim might be leaving shortly also. :( Oh well just room for big and better toys.

It's sitting in my house. lol
I ordered VDO vision series gauges for it from Summit Racing and only got one. The other is backordered, hopefully I'll get it sometime this century so I can install it by spring. lol
I also have a set of red indiglo pedal covers to go on it, some more red lighting for the under the hood, and going to get some red neons for the interior to match the trunk.
We had a little GrandAm meet up this way a little while back adn I really wanted the pod in for that, but the oil gauge never showed up. :(

Hey I have those exact same Kenwoods...except 12"s. Do you get compliments on them? Cuz everyone that seems them loves the Pearl Mica Injection-Molded Polypropylene Cone. I do have to admit is is such a sleak look to the speaker. :)
I (personally) think they sound really good too, especially for how cheap they were (my favorite part).
Everything looks really good, btw!!!!! :)

Thanks!
Yes alot of people comment on them. I wouldn't even care if they were bad comments because I too got a great deal. Someone smashed into my friends 30k mile IROCZ the day after my wedding and totaled it. He had purchased these subs for his car from Crutchfield. He sold them to me about what he paid for them $100 a pair. I guess they had a buy one get one free sale on certain speakers. So for $100 I got a nice set of sub. I'm only pushing about 100 watts to each one, but they still sound pretty darn good. :)
BTW Rba007,
I just received my oil pressure gauge in the mail so hopefully soon I'll have them installed along with the red indiglo pedal civers my wife just purchased. I was under the impression I could use the stock sending unit, but now was just told I need a aftermarket one. Oh well atleast it's not backordred.
Now for a nice, cool day to work on it.

John, I love the macro shot you did of your bike... looks great! If you want a hand with the guage pod when I'm home, I'll definately help you out. I'm planning on renting a garage heater for a while during christmas break, if you don't have it done by then, maybe...

I have a salimander <sp> type heater that heats my garage pretty darn well. I don't know when I'll get to it, but the help would be nice. It should only take a few beers to get it done. :)

Well tonight I just brought home a pair of fatty rubbers for my GN. Yes she is wearing brand new 245/60 BFGoodrich Radial TAs out back, but these bad boys are for the track. Nice Hoosier slicks, booya! Traded a friend for some TA parts, and they still have about 1-2 seasons left on them. Now I just need to find a pair of GN alloys to match mine to mounted these sticky rubbers apon. From then on out at the track it's near full boost launches baby! No more spinning though the 60' mark.

holy crap man, that's ****in' awesome!! Your GN will look so sexy with those bad boys on there. Geesh, and to think I would have stood some sort of chance running up against you next season, oh well
TA^Guy
09-28-2002, 06:39 PM
Well Rob, from my two runs I got in you already beat her. (didn't sppol, and then spun though the 60') lol
But dependign on whats going on this winter I might get all the bugs worked out of her and knocking a full second off the time. As for the slicks, those should knock it down even further. Slicks, Posi and a factory 4 link rearend! Uff Uff! Lets just hope my tranny holds up. lol

Kicka$$ man, you'll have plenty of time this winter to save up some dough and do some work. If you get everything fixed on your GN, you should see 14's in a heartbeat... who knows, 13's might be around the corner with a little finageling
BTW, next season we (ECM) should try to check out some of the bigger shows, I'm still reeling over the GN swap meet at E-Town a while ago ;)
The rims you have on your car now, are those year-specific, or is it a specific GN option package? Personally I like the glossy black GN rims... its hard to describe them... um, oh well.
TA^Guy
10-02-2002, 12:14 AM
The glossy black ones you discribe are actually Chrome with black towards the center. So it could look glossy black when it reflects correctly. Unless you talking about the laced ones on the GNX, same wheels on the GTAs. Mine wheels are 84/85 GN wheels. They also came in plain alloy on all '84-'87 TTypes.

Just out of curiosity, what are the differences between the GN and the GNX? (Obviously besides the price and rarity  )
TA^Guy
10-03-2002, 01:49 AM
Well only 547 GNXs were built and only built in '87.
For differences from a '87 GN I'll start with the more obvious visual differences.
The GNX received 16" black GTA style honeycomb or webbed style wheels. (245/50R16 front, 255/50R16 rear).
Fender flairs to cover those beefy rubbers.
Fender mounted heat extractors.
GNX turbo heat sheild
GNX emblems
GNX dash plaque with number series.
Custom Dash Panel with Stewart Warner Gauges.
GNX differental cover
GNX Ladder sytle torque and panrod bars.
Transmission cooler and shift kit
Ceramic coated turbo impellers
better intercooler
true dual exhaust.
I think thats about it.
It was rated at 275hp@4400rpm with a whopping 360ft/lbs of torque.
The hp rating is typical GM and was known to be pretty underrated.
GNX's typically ran low to flat 13's with a trap speed around 100mph.
Here is a nice fixer up'er for you Rob.
GNX #384
Only $20,000 !
What a deal. :)

Hey Rob do you know you will be returning this way for your christmas break?
I haven't ordered the oil pressure sending unit yet, but I will soon. If it's not here I'll just install the gauges and run teh wire. I'll just wire it when I get the sender.

Well we purchased our remote starter and I have since installed the heated seats.
I'm going to wait until spring to install the gauges and indiglo pedals. The wife also wants to switch all the accents from red to purple so I'll be contacting Ryan at GrafxWerks.com soon. :)
As for the GN it's killing me.
I fix the hesitation at WOT, ended up being a bad coil pack.
Then we mandrel bend a new up-pipe to replace the kinky bends, flex piped, rusted stock one. Almost perfect, with a few hours into the project. RJ puts it back into the machine to tweek a littel bend and it's done. CRACK. Busted it. With no time to start over the flex joint were it was rusted was removed and a section of pipe was welded in it's place.
All is well, right? Wrong. Now I have power again and my little minor slip in the transmission is worst. Slip right though first, and doesn't kick down correctly. RJ is going to flush it for me next week I think, but if it doesn't get any better when the snow melts adn I can dig the van out we are going to pull the transmission, rebuild it, and fix the rear main seal. Plus make the new 2.5" up-pipe, and the three peice 3" down pipe whiles it's there. I'd like to install a 2800rpm stall convertor while I'm at it, but with the new house adn the news gear I purchased(ing) for the bike I don't think I'm going to have the cash to spare. Shoot all that and I still need a AFPR so I can turn up my boost. lol
How bad is it when your transmission slips like a bald RSA on ice but your still running around toasting ricers? LMAO.

I want to see a pic of the 81' T/A Is it a Turbo or does it still have the Shaker scoop? 301 or 305? I have had a 73', 77', 78', 79 Smokey and the Bandit, 83 Pace car, 85' Black with Large Silver bird (rare), 01' Black Bird #21 of 50. I want to see yours.

I would take the 89' Trans Am with the most improved GN engine in it. I would also take a GN in a heartbeat. The TA was a little faster, lighter and a little more rounded. The GN does have a mean look to it though.

Well I guess I need to edit my signature, because I have sold my '81 TA to a friend. But I still get to help reassemble it. It's a NA 301 WS4, nothing special. See it here, http://members.fbody.com/johnnyl I used to own a '79 TA fully loaded WS6 suspension, 4 wheels disc, 3.73:1 posi, T-Tops, AC, etc, etc Was powered by the heavy but torquey 403 Olds. I did a little work with a 270 degree CompCam with .450 lift, Crane Lifters, new pushrod, glassbead blasted the intake ports, valve job, new valve springs, etc Ran good and would smoke the tire though 1st and 2nd gear but once it hit 90 that was about all she wrote. lol I also owned a '86 Camaro Sport Coupe that was a dealer built 'SS'. Not too shabby with the weak little LG4, but it had alot odd options like stock driving lights, and Z28 options like the hood, and alloy wheels, also the NK3 Z28 interior, dealer installed wood trim Grant steering wheel, to match the wood dash trim, dealer installed sunroof and rear window louvers. I have found other cars that were a exact match to mine, sometime even the same color. But not a single owner new the origin of the vehicle. :(
Along with that I picked up a '89 RS for $1500. About a year later a drunk driver side swiped it when it was parked, we collected about $2200 in damages from his insurance (barley noticable damage but need to be painted and a wheel repaired) and then we got $2000 for it on a trade in on our old '95 GA. lol
Also owned a '92 Z28 with a LB9 eibach springs, flowmasters, gutted cat, hypertech thermomaster PROM, 160 thermostat, K&N filters with a custom coolair setup, etc With the TH700R4 and 2:73:1 posi it was a dog off the line but would slaughter others up top running around 150mph. lol
I too would love a 20thAnniversary '89 TTA but they are alot more $$$ than GNs. One could get a nice WE4 TurboT for alot less. :)
