So i just got a deal on a Civic CAI but the tubing only measures 2.5 inches across. What's the diameter of the usual intake. I was hoping for at least 3 inch tubing. I talked to the guy at my performance shop and he said that im gunna LOSE power if i stick with the 2.5 inch tubing. What do you guys think? He alos said that i should replace the plastic acordian tubing between the MAF and throttle body since the acordian ripples affect air flow. Al that money wasted looks like! :rage:
thanks

The same thing happened to me. I bought a tube off Ebay without knowing the diameter...duh!! It was 2.5". The MAF on our cars has a diameter very close to 3". I was able to re-sell it for the same price. So i made even.

I just bought the civic intake tube and was also suprised that it wasnt as wide as i thoguht it would be. I installed it and also made a piece to take the place of the rubber section. I got an slp exhaust from APOC and had john ship me a rubber CAI copler with the breather and iat sensor gromets. And got the rest at home depot and autozone for the steel pipe.
Love the CAI sound!

so you are running a 2.5 inch civic intake from the MAF down?
did you see a significant difference in power? cause im told you actually lose power cause the intake is built for a 4 cylinder honda and doesnt feed enough air for out 3.4L V6.

It doesn't make a huge difference when you aren't running a lot of mods.
APoC is 3" I believe, almost positive...so it would be better in the long run if you plan to do lots of mods and push some power through it.
