Hey guys, I have the factory spoiler on my 1997 Pontiac GrandAm SE. I keep the car clean regularly and I wax it at least once a year. Apparently, it seems as if the spoiler as aquired some type of mold that I can't really remove.

The spoiler seems to be made of fiberglass or something like those rubbermaid plastic chairs. I know to clean those rubbermaid plastic chairs, simply dumping bleach on them makes them look like they're brand new from WalMart. I'm a little more reluctant to use that bleach on my spoiler but I can't think of any alternative that might be abraisive to the finish on the spoiler.

My car is Arctic white, so I'm not concerned with bleaching the paint since it's about as white as you can get it.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys!

lol i guess im not understanding..... why would you use bleach on a car to get rid of mold. ?? i dont see that working. why dont you go look at walmart, etc. for mold remover, repellent type stuff. i dunno that my best guess.

I'd say you use TSP, which is a mold killer. House painters use it to kill mold on houses before painting.

It actually might not remove the dead mold, you probably will have to scotchbright it off, but as I understand it, it will be dead.

Second idea, try Ascetone. It will destroy your paint, but the mold will be gone!

Ok, I'll try that mold remover. THe only reason why I was curious if I should use bleach is because it appears to me, that the rear spoiler is made of pretty much the exact same kind of plastic material that those WalMart outdoor plastic seats are. You know the kinds that you put by your patio or pool.

Anyway, I know that to clean those, you can make one that's dirty as hell, look BRAND new just by dumping bleach on it.

Now, I was hesitant because I wasn't sure how that would affect the paint, or if that even IS paint on the spoiler.... I think maybe the spoiler is made up of plastic that's the same color, it doesn't seem to have any clear-coat on it.

It sucks, I've never had a car get MOLD on it... but for some reason this car has... I live in South Florida, and it's always ALWAYS humid down here.

Does this car have crappier paint or osmething?

It's arctic white too.. so everything shows up.
