Well the weather is getting warmer, and planning on breaking out the stuff to paint calipers.
I was told that after every trip in the car, be it 10 minutes or a few hours of driving, brake dust appears on the calipers. I was wanting to do white, but i think that would be to high maintenance.
I have the SE, so do drums get brake dust on them? im not sure.

But my real question is, what would be a good color where i don't need to clean them everyday. I know you guys have painted from white->blue->red->yellow... basicaly i've seen every color done..
any tips on how often you maintain them and clean the brake dust off and what color would not show it as much, since i know white will. THanks

there is no brake dust on the drums, as for the calipers, i would go red

ok, i was positive no dust got on drums.
I don't really wanna go red, because it isn't one of my better colors. Honestly, (dont wanna sound like a jerk) but im not asking for opinions on what colors would look good.
I'm asking what colors are fairly easy to maintain and how often do you guys clean them? if i do paint the calipers white, will i be expecting to clean them every day?

I don't think I have ever seen anyone paint there calipers white. That might answer the question.

Black would be the most maintenance free....lol

Anything darker would show the dust less.

I use a wheel brush (small brush on a handle) to get in between the rim and calipers to clean off the brake dust.

basically the lighter the color, the more maintenance.

I have yellow and its not that bad. I usually repaint after the winter. and just wash it regularily, like Jeremy said, a small brush works good. If you wash em when you wash your car, there should not be a problem.

Use a lot of coats of paint to get a smooth surface, will make it easier to clean.

I painted mine around october of last year and haven't done anything to clean them. They look great. Just make sure you clean the wheels when you do a car wash and your set. I don't think people are going to be inspecting your calipers for dust.

well you could mount a small brush on the inside of the rim so that everytime the wheel turns it brushes them off ;-)

i have 'ford blue' and it really isn't too bad. i would like to find a color that matches my overlays a bit better, but it was pretty much my first mod and it's been on for about 2 years now and i've never touched it up.

Well, considering I didn't buy the spraypaint, that might make a difference. heh Besides, better Ford than Civic, right?? :p Thank you Jim. :)

Hahaha. True enough. lol At least it's a "domestic" blue. :D And, I can imagine that blue would look good on a white car. The Pontiac blue is too pale....

I used Ceramic header paint & the Color choices of red were limited, I ended up w/ chevy orange, which is really bright red. So don't feel bad about the ford blue. I've had as more worthless chevy's then fords in my lifetime.LOL

Yeah my buddy's family owns a Ford Dealership, and when I asked him to buy me paint to paint the calipers with, he went out and bought me FORD RED! I guess that's the price I had to pay for using his lift...haha
