Well, my 99 SE rotors finally bit it! For those of you that know 696 in Detroit, 80 to 20MPH is a common thing! Well now my car shakes VIOLENTLY when doing it! So...time to upgrade!

1. Slotted - Personally don't like the looks and they eat pads.
2. Drilled - Prone to stress cracking
3. Slotted & Drilled - ???

I've been searching for aftermarkets and like Powerstop and Mantapart rotors/pads. Does anyone have first hand experience with either? I saw the post about someone being happy with Powerstops ... anyone else have some input?

Thanx!
Craig

Power slot rotors are slotted, but matched with the performance friction pads...work awesomely. They don't wear down as much as you would think and the brake dust is very minimal. Definitely good stuff. Though they might not be your thing.

We all know to stay away from Mantapart unless you absolutely have no other choice. Powerstops are drilled, so may shatter on you unexpectedly.
I still recommend that all street-driven cars just use plain-face rotors. It has recently come to my attention that Brembo makes OE replacement rotors for our cars; they are about $50 each from The Tire Rack (http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/results.jsp?autoMake=Pontiac&autoModel=Grand+Am+GT+Sedan&autoYear=2000&x=33&y=5). Or, if you can find Raybestos, they are supposedly pretty good too.

Well, I have been doing some online research and PowerStop seems to be the "rotor of choice" for our cars anyhow. So, I ordered a set of front rotors from pfyc.com.

Now, I don't want their pads, so I was wondering if anyone has used EBC Greenstuff pads with the Powerslots? Or just EBC Greenstuff in general. I have heard they are great pads!

Any input?

I wanted to get the Greenstuff pads when I changed my rotors but they were backordered until fall and I couldn't wait. I have heard good things about them though.

I think you might be confusing Power Slot and Power Stop. Power Stop are the drilled ones and Power Slot are obviously the slotted ones that pfyc.com sells.

So powerslot are the best? Cause when i get my Grand am, i know i would be faced with the rotors problem too so i thought i'd ask this question in advance.

They may be the best for the money. But if Bembro makes OEM replacements that would be a good place to put your money as well considering their reputation.

If you want absolute best it would probably be the Baer package. But that's major $$$

I noticed that. With the Bremo replacements, it is only the rotors. Would I have to replace the pads as well or could i use the current pads?

Any time you replace rotors, you should start with new pads. The reason for this is that the old pads have a wear pattern in them that will wear into your brand new rotors.
EBC Greenstuffs are the best pad I've ever used. Better than Performance Frictions. We have them on my fiancee's Neon (she needs the best brakes money can buy). They don't need to be warmed up like race pads, and they grip no matter how scalding hot you get them.
Rotors: If you're looking to keep from warping, get crossdrilled rotors. The only heat/warping advantage that Powerlots have over OEM rotors is a better base casting (better metal). Cross drilled rotors have an undeserved bad rep for cracking, even though they very rarely crack. The best deal going right now is cross drilled and slotted rotors for $75 each from JC Whitney. That way you have less chance of warping, and no glazing of your pads.
