So happy it's that time of year again...hockey playoffs. Anybody have a favorite team? I actually live in Toronto, but am a huge Philadelphia Flyers fan. So I'm taking the Flyers to win the Cup this year, just like I do every year  It's funny living in Toronto and my favorite team is matched up against them first round, oh the abuse :D
Go Flyers

I said Vancouver would win it before the season, and even though they haven't been playing amazing hockey lately, I'll stick with them.

if Osgood can step his game up i think St. Louis can suprise some people but if i were to put money on it i'd have to go with my hometown team: Wings.

Why not have the Wings & Leafs go to the finals? That would be the biggest series of all time, I'm sure.

IF Yzerman can stay healthy through the entire playoffs, I think they Wings win it somewhat easily. IF Yzerman is not healthy, well I would have to pick Dallas, Turco has been playing awesome all year.

Luniz... question about your Sabres... who in the heck is gonna be your goaltender next year? It seemed like a three way job with Biron, Miller and Numonen(sp?), what gives and who do you want in goal?

Who knows... Biron was supposed to be the next Hasek. At least that whats people were saying. I guess when you keep losing, they figure that its all the goalies fauult. I just hope the defense will keep the opposing teams offense out of the zone. My personal choice will still be Biron.
Jason22
04-08-2003, 12:43 AM
That is all I heard about Biron also, and I really think he is a good goalie. He did not have a stellar year, but his numbers were still quite good(had him on my fantasy team), and I agree they need to vastly sure up the defense.

I am rooting for any team but Detroit!!! he he :) No my second favorite hockey team is the NJ Devils so i am rooting for them!
And you know what i noticed last night as I was watching some of the games....
Ed Belfour, former Blackhawk, now with Toronto in the playoffs
Jeremy Roenick, former Blackhawk, now with Philly in the playoffs
Chris Chelios (my hockey God :)) former Blackhawk :(, now with Detroit in the playoffs...
Where are my beloved Hawks... sitting on their butts watching the games from their couches.. sucks!!!!
I was sad when I realized that :( :(

DEVILS!!!! DEVILS!!!!! DEVILS!!!!!!
They lose their biggest players to big-market teams every year, but still manage to put out a winner. Marty is the best goalie in hockey right now, hands down. They might not have the most talent in the playoffs, but they are consistant.
Jason22
04-11-2003, 10:48 AM
I think THE best goalie in hockey this year is Turco. But I do love the Devils, hope they come out of the East. I have a cousin that plays for them, Brian Rafalski

well looks like the series is tied now. has anyone noticed how the flyers have dominated both games so far. If it wasn't for the few mental breakdowns in game one they would have won that one to. We'll see tonight how the flyers can do in toronto.

I have to admit...the Flyers killed us in game 2. Im not ashamed to admit our Maple Leafs were beat by a stronger team that day. BUT now were are going to the ACC...things are gunna be a little different. Plus the Leafs have alot of injured players (this is by NO means an excuse since the Leafs handle injuries better than any other team) but im just laying all the facts down.
Tough series ahead but the LEAFS will win of course!

ah yes the good ol home ice advantage. But u forget the flyers led the nhl in road wins this year. They were almost actually better on the road than at home. Oh ya so far in game three they have really dominated as well....

After watching a couple of the goals Cujo let in, I'm reminded of the playoffs from last year. When it really comes down to the clinch, he just doesn't perform as well as he could.
Guess he gave Toronto the cold shoulder for nothing. :p

How about LEAFS in 6 now?!!!! That seems like a much BETTER option for everyone. The Leafs played AMAZING last game. They are runnin on pure grit right now. Too bad about Corson though...he was a tough guy. Oh well....just waitin for KILLER to make a huge comeback!!!!

I knew that Detroit wouldn't win, I called it well before the playoffs began. I just hope they lose tonight and get it over with already! Cujo stinks and the front office of Detroit is just as bad for picking him up. I can't imagine whys Cujos been on a city to city tour over the past couple years. Flat out, the Wings blew it when they got rid of Osgood a couple years back, you cannot buy a goalie every year. Stick with those who have run with you for so long, I am tired of teams selling out their own players.

i hate cujo and never liked him to begin with cant win bottom line
i hope they play legacy tonight.
if there is a chance they can pull 4 wins and get out of this series i dont think anyone can beat detroit.
Jason22
04-16-2003, 10:19 PM
For one, Osgood was osBAD. He was mediocre and had a great defense in front of him, which made him look good.
NO ONE can bad mouth the front office for the Wings, need I remind you we have won 3 cups within 6 years, and made all the necessary moves last year. Granted I wanted to see Legace get the starting job, and I hope he gets it next year because he can flat out play. But you cannot really blame CuJo for this series, although that bonehead move to come out of the net was stupid. His numbers are excellent in the playoffs, something like 1.89 gaa, and a 0.925 save percentage. The real problem for the Wings is scoring, they are not taking advantage of scoring opportunities and scoring 4 goals over 3 games is going to lose us every series.
I want the Wings to win, but if they lose I will not be heartbroken, we have won our share lately.
All I have left to say is.... "I was a Red Wings fan before it was cool"
Jason22
04-17-2003, 12:24 AM
Just wanted to say that all three of those goals were basiaclly unstoppable, nothing for CuJo to do. Oh well, congrats to Anaheim, they deserved to win.

Damn what a game. If it wasn't for belfour they would have lost 10-2. He really is a great goalie. What an overtime period. Or should i say overtimes. It was one of the best games i've seen in awhile. What a heart wrenching defeat for toronto. Now back to our house baby.

The leafs / flyers matchup it looking to be the most hard fought of the playoffs so far. I thought the leafs had it tough with the Islanders last year but this is way worse....double and then triple overtime games back to back?...plus we got a truck load of guys hurt....like always, the leafs pull through.
GO LEAFS GO!

didn't pull thru last night. They got royally dominated except for maybe the first 5 minutes. I don't think any of the goals they eddie let in could have been stopped. They were great shots by the flyers. One more baby. I seriously think these two teams are the best two teams in the whole playoffs. Well

Im sorry...but all those other games arent gunna be as hardcore. Everyone knows where all eyes are gunna be...Leafs vs Flyers
THis one is gunna be a blood bath but i predict a Leafs win. They got too much heart (as we saw in last nights OT win) But i really cant predict it for sure. I admit, Flyers are the better team but they are runnin on skill while the Leafs are runnin on HEART!...and we all know the team with heart plays harder.

Well what was i supposed to say?..Leafs are gunna lose?!
man...that game was just pathetic.
We didnt even watch the 3rd period....it was a joke from the get go. The last thing im gunna come on here and say is that the Leafs deserved to win because they didnt deserve anything. I hope Pat Quinn yells the F*UCK out at them. Belfour was made to look like a fool when in reality, he was the best player on the ice. No goalie can stop shots without a defence...not even Eddy. Next year i hope head office take a serious step at gettin an actual defence....not just a bunch of old geezers at the trade deadline....
Lets hope things turn around next year...I feel bad for Mats, A-Mog and the rest of the guys who tired.
GO LEAFS...ah forget it:(

Ummm... Well, who's going to rip a strip off Quinn? He's had five years to bring the Buds to a championship, yet no dice. Someone else needs to take the helm and properly coach the Leafs. It's never really been a goal of Quinn's to have strong defensive play. Hopefully Tannenbaum will wake up and realize Toronto needs a new coach.
As for who will win the Cup? My bet is on Dallas.

Just an amazing series, like we didn't know it was gonna be anyhow. I still though Philly had more talent on their team then the Leafs, just a few bad breaks though. Oh well, next is the Sens and I definitely remember last year. I guess payback is a b***h, so Sens watch out.
I will always have a special spot in my heart for Toronto's defence, they always come through.
