I want to change out my spark plugs but i'm not sure what to get since there are so many different types out there. PFYC is selling some but I am not sure about those. Those who have upgraded plugs, have you replaced wires as well?

Another question. I have gapped spark plugs many times before, but I wanted to check myself - how have others been gaping plugs? If ordering plugs from online, does it come with a proper gap to set?

I have Bosch Platinum +4's. They are probably the least popular plug on the site, but my idle quality and starting improved. No measurable performance increase. They were changed at 40,000 miles. Cost was $5.99/plug. They are not gappable due to the 4 prong design.
NGK Iridiums are the most common "performance" plugs raved about on the site.
If you plan to use N2O or a supercharger, you should use copper core plugs, and replace them more often.

If you get the NGK's from PFYC, don't bother with the V-power plugs. I had them and I think they actually were worse than the AC delco's. Get the NGK iridium's instead. Those with some wires might give you slightly better idle and fuel economy, but won't do anything for power unless you have lots of other mods. If you plan on using boost or nitrous, get a plug one heat range colder than stock. They don't last quite as long, but they help protect against detonation.:)

P.S. If you get iridiums, don't gap them. They come pre-gapped from the factory and if you try to gap them you might break the tiny iridium tip. Expensive mistake at $12 a plug.

I agree don't gap them...but at the same point check the gap...I had about 3 different gap sizes on mine when I got them. I made sure they were all at .50 (which was the most common and least amount of work). The others were at .55, .53, and .56. I just made sure they were all the same. Just check, most likely they will all be just about the same.

I have NGK Iridiums. I bought them from www.partsforyourcar.com
I also have MSD 8.5mm wires. I bought them from
www.americanperformanceofcolorado.com

The setup seems to be very good, I have better start-ups, and a little better economy even with the SC. I like the looks of the MSD Wires. But I think that you might do a little bit better with the Taylor Wires because they have less resistance - 8mm wires.

i still have stock, but will probably be replacing soon. as per the suggestions of a friend of mine who has infinitely more car knowledge and an nhra license, i will probably get a higher quality Delco set, as he says that that is just one of those tempermental factory combos.

on a related note, what is the largest wire that anyone here is running?

The platnium tips on AC Delocs are prone to falling off. Mine were when I took them out, and the gap was therefore opened to about .075. I first tried regular copper V-power NGKs. I noticed a general decrease in performance for some odd reason. I then went with Autolite double platniums. The tips on those suckers won't fall off and they're garunteed for like 5 years I think. Gapped at .060 using a cheapo universal spark pulg feeler gauge. Performance was dramatically restored and has stayed that way for over 25K.

I used to run platnium +4's an i had no problem.

I am currently runnin NGK tr6's for my nitrous.
and i have a set of MSD 8.5 wires on the way.

One thing though, Nitrous guys, what are u gapped at? orginally i had them at stock .60, but i was misfiring after i would use the NOS, so i called the NOS tech support and they told me to take the gap down to .35

Since you need to change them every 10K miles anyway, it seemed pointless to me to spend money on them, so I run good old trusty AC Delco Coppers!

That's awsome that I found some success stories of the Bosch Platium 4's. I'm hoping that they work fine in my car.
