So first I know there is the tire database, but it does nothing for me. I need tires for my Lexus SC400. I phoned around and got a bunch of prices. I think I've decided on Dunlop SP Sport A2. I was thinking Bridgestone Potenza RE950's, but I can't justify the extra money for them. Dealers keep trying to tell me Toyo Proxies. Opinions? The car has V rated tires stock, but I think I'm gonna just go with H. Easier to find and less money. My SC has a top speed of 150 miles/h, but doesn't see over 125 miles/h often it barely ever, so rating isn't super important. So opinions, suggestions?
Sad thing my Grand Am needs tires too. So many expenses at once.

you will feel the difference in the sidewall when making sharp turns. The V rated tire will be crisper and not flex as much. Also the streering response is worse on the H rated tires in general. I went from dunlop sp5000 to the a2's and was dissapointed.

Off the top of my head....are Bridgestone SO3's a possibility?? Many, many, many guys use these on their RX7's. Supposedly it is a great tire for a great price.

The SO3 is an unbelievable tire! Just be prepared for the tire wear ... or lack thereof! A lot of guys here use them to autocross but would never drive them on the street on a daily driver. The rubber is a VERY soft compound.

Then SO3 isn't for me. I need a tire that will last. I don't demand alot from my SC so if there is a slight drop in handling, no big deal. That and believe it or not, my SC sees snow every once and awhile so a dedicated performance tire would be no good to me.
