Hey everyone. I just got an idea and I thought I would see what you guys think of it before I sit down and discuss it with Adam and Mike. I had spoke with Mike earlier and he seemed pretty interested.

Pretty much its like this. Some of us have Nextel and some of us don't. But it would be pretty ideal if we all did. If we didn't have FRS radios, we'd have some way to communicate together on two-ways. Not only is there no restricted distance with the Direct Connect walkie-talkie feature, it is soon going Nationwide so you'll be able to direct connect family in California if you wanted to. Its cheap and free (depending on the plan)

Basically, since MGAC is recognized as a business and an organization, then MGAC can purchase an account with Nextel. Adam and Mike would be the people signing the bill and whoever they chose to put as co-signers or eligble account managers, could manage their account and change their phone plans. Being that we are recognized as an organization, with a Tax ID # we can purchase an account, have everyone pick out their own phone and rate plan, and have the bill sent to their address. So Adam, you can wipe your forehead, cause you arn't going to be stuck with the bill. If we do a group buy of 5 or more people, each person will be able to receive a $25 credit invoice on their bill. I cannot adjust or give deals on rate plans. My manager has also decided to be gracious enough to give the members of the club 15% off all accessories purchased at our location. The reason you will be getting a $25 invoice credit is because we are running a "5 or more" promotion. Purchase 5 or more phones on an account and receive $25 off each. Now, if we sign this up all on individual accounts, no invoices will be issued and each person's credit will have to be run. Also, with having a Tax ID #, all purchase will be Tax Exempt.

We are running the "5 or more" promo this month. I highly encourage to take advantage of this. All of the phones are already discounted down $150 off retail, and we also have a mail-in rebate of $49.99 on all flip phones.

SO, in short, you have an opportunity to save $75 off your phone purchase by doing a group buy, and an effective way to communicate with one another in the most inexpensive way!

Let me know what you guys think, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I can understand if you guys are in contracts with other companies, but I highly encourage considering this opportunitiy and the savings on phones, accessories and tax exempts by being in the club!

Not to sound like a salesperson.......okay well I am going to.

Say on average you're paying $50 a month and you're stuck in a contract for 2 years. Thats $1200 in monthly payments for your bill, as opposed to just coughing up the $200 average early cancellation fee! Thats just the way I see it.

With Nextel, its a one year contract with an early cancellation fee of $200 and a activation fee of $35.

OK $50 dollar plans are like a Nextel only thing unless you have like 2309823 minutes worldwide with free everything. and most of these accounts these days like (cingular, verizon) are 25 - 45 tops. lets say you pay 25 a month for 2 years, thats only 600 bucks. You pay 35 for nextel's cheapo plan for a year.... 420 + plus early cancelation fee 200, plus 35 activation.. BOOM already atleast 35 more, plus the extreme cost of the damn phone! and thats only for one year! the next year you have to pay another 420. lemme know if this checks out :D hahahaha mike hates this

It sounds cool, but I actually really like the phone and service I have right now. I use direct connect at work and we always have problems. Besides, I just bought a new FRS radio to use when we get together, and it has a 5 mile range.:)

Nextel is not a family/teenage marketed communications company. It was primarily developed under strict business relations. But it is starting to expand out to other branchs.

Extreme cost of the phone? It depends on what you want Alex, not on what it costs. You want a good phone, you pay the price. You want a set of headers, you pay the price, correct?

The cost of the phone is paid upfront, plus you will be saving $25 not including the additional $49.99 off the flip phone. The phones are already priced at $150 off retail price, so you're saving $225 off the retail price of the phone by going this route.

You're just ****ed cause you're 16 and don't have credit to run so you were required a $500 deposit lol

The Direct Connect has never had "problems". I think you're just describing issues you've had while you're at work, and i'm just going to assume you have i1000's at work. Back when Nextel first developed their first line of flip-phones, everyone bought em like crazy. They are IMEI-based, not sim card based. Even if they are "Menu-Mode" based phones, they are IMEI as well. Same thing as the i1000's. So they cannot take full advantage of the iDEN service technology like the new phones can.

Also, each person will have different experiences and different opinions. But this choice should be made out of personal interest, not based on other's experiences or analogies. I'm not even saying this out of the fact that i'm trying to do my job. Hell, you could go to another place if you wanted, but i'm honestly speaking on behalf of the company and on behalf of my personal experience with the service that it is truely beneficial. Each company has their drawbacks. But the pros outweight the cons.

already have a nextel and love it, minus the fact that i don't get very good reception in my house at times. i also don't like the minimum plan of $40/month because i don't even use like 25% of the minutes each month. however the convenience of the 2-way and the fact that all my other friends have it makes it worth the cost.

Rob, what store do you work at? Do you work at a NRS store? Or are you an independent rep.

No, right now i'm working for an indirect dealer. I was looking to work for retail but you have to be a high school graduate, and I'm a senior right now, so i have about a month or so left.

let me know when you are interested in working for a nextel retail store. i am in close contacts with the regional trainers who also work at some of the stores in the chi town area.
