View Full Version : Teflon Coating?
Anybody have any expierience with teflon coating? I'm considering it but i dont know if its worth it. I hear it makes it significantyl easier to clean and it will keep it shiny. Does anybody know if after teflon coating you can still wax to make it glossier? Thanks in advance.

When I was with the detail shop we did use it sometimes when people would ask for it. It is not worth it. We would tell the customers that. It is very nice. The shine is great. But it does not last very long. If you do it often it is not bad. It makes cleaning the car a breaze. the dirt washes right off. The teflon coating claims it lasts a lot longer than it does. It does go downhill much quicker than the product should though. IMO it is not worth it.
I see. Thanks for the response. I've been thinking about it and I don't think i will. The place was charging 150 for claybar, polish, and teflon, i thought it seemed pretty good if the coat really lasted 5 years, which is what he said it would. He did later say that it would actually only last about 9 months - a year. 150 dollar wax job, I think id rather buy some Zaino or something. Thanks again.

Teflon is a huge scam in the detailing world. It takes extreme temps to apply Teflon. In fact, these temps would damge you paint badly! So, they use lower temps, but the Teflon does not bond well and thus wears away quickly. In short, save your money!
