well, just had the upper and lower intake gaskets replaced on our '01 gagt with only 32k miles on yesterday. this was due to it seaping oil from the lower gasket right above the heads, both sides, front and back. it was a very small leak, meaning i never noticed oil loss between oil changes, but it could only get worse i'm sure. in fact, it had been seaping pretty much since 0 miles when we bought it. didn't have any coolant loss. i also had some seapage under the front valve cover gasket. anyway, i was worried what the dealer could screw up since this is a pretty big job, but it seems to be ok...after my thorough check of the engine after my wife got home (although they did forget to tighten the egr tube to the egr valve, but i saw and tightened that) anyway, i thought i would post the part numbers associated with this repair. and, yes, i did make sure before hand that they would be using the new gaskets that came out in march.

1 25010792 oil filter
5 quarts motor oil
1 12346290 coolant
1 12346240 slr-rtv
2 10154775 v/c gaskets
1 12378392 cleaner
1 89017279 new intake gasket kit
1 10477565 seal
1 12345382 compound

edit: to be safe i will be changing the oil this weekend, after which about 200 miles will have been put on it. $10 is cheap insurance for engine work.

so the big one is out of the way. now to take care of the remaining issues in a couple of weeks: new RSA's per noisy tire tsb, new front windows per window scratch tsb, noisy power window in passenger side, rpm dependent static in FM radio only, and loose black trim piece on rear bumper. it's a coming to the end of warranty repair blowout.

I have had quite a warranty repair extravaganza:

On my 3rd set of leaking reverse lights (one needs replaced again)

Loose rear black trim on bumper

Peice of ground effect between rear door and wheelwell was loose

Faulty fog light switch

Intake gaskets went south (anti-freeze stinks!!)

Power window/lock panel on the drivers door quit working

Hinges and re-alignment on drivers door because it creaked and popped when it was opened or closed

New Goodyear RS/A tires because of noise

Repair of un-sealed body seam that resulted in a trunk leaking like the Titanic every time it rained (this included new trunk carpet, insulation, spare tire cover, and jack)

Brake rotor resurfacing and new pads (I had to pay for the pads)

Now, my car has developed that irritating creaking noise in the drivers side front suspension that no-one can seem to figure out and one of my headlights in beginning to fog up on the inside...whew!! I bet my dealer is tired of seeing my car. Good thing I have 16,000 miles of factory 3/36 warranty left!! LOL!! I figure it'd cost less for GM to buy me a new car than to have this one in the shop every other week on their bill. Maybe I should get and extended warranty and really screw em.
