so let me get this straight i thought the first time i read this post way back when it didnt say only mgac members get awards, or did i just over read that or did you guys add that in. i really think it isnt fair that this year 2krucial doesnt get to be apart of it. we were there last year too. and i think it should be open to all grand ams not just mgac. if the public is voting and noonan is voting at leaste let the people decide whos cars they like instead of a controlled vote for one group of cars. someone from mgac should call me so we can make this right. we were there last year too.(248)789-8797 xdc (586) 552-7000

Nikki
06-10-2003, 11:22 AM
Well Josh, from what I understood...Adam had changed the post so there wouldn't be any confusion.

He explained it to me also, like this: Noonan is doing this just for MGAC, however all GAs are welcomed. Noonan is providing the trophies to MGAC members only becuz they are a sponsor of our club.

I have no idea how they will tell whos who....but I'm just repeating to you what I heard from Adam.

It will be nice to see you guys again...long time no see.

i guess thats how the cookie crumbles, life goes on but i still think its pretty $hitty that we as in other ga's are ruled out when mgac dropped off the map for a few months what happened then. my club was still around but hey i guess this whole friendly car club thing isnt working out. so far this is 2 istances that mgac has weeded out 2krucial. 1 bieng the glof course meeting and now this. does think mean when it comes time for the gap 03" we arent going to able to park with everyone too. i mean come on this is supposed to be a one big ga family wheather we have diiferent car club stickers or not. as far as sponsor ships, thats cool, but i dont know whatever. whatever happens happens

Nikki
06-10-2003, 12:14 PM
Josh, I totally understand you. I'm hoping one of the "head" members chime in here to clear things up. I'm only repeating what Adam had told me last week.

Who knows if it will even be like that once we get there...I have no clue. A lot of stuff has been going on with us and things haven't been too good, so I'm sure once we get there, the guidelines will be a different story from what I posted...I guess we will see.

Or maybe mgac can't handle the competition.

BumPin GA
06-10-2003, 12:32 PM
i think that is this a load of crap. Many car clubs have cars shows and anyone who shows up can win an award its called competition. I dont c why the MGAC members arnt ****ed about this too. Why would u want the only competition be the members of your club when there are other GA's there. There could be are car sittin next to you and be a nicer car but it cant win an award bc it isn not appart of your club. Adam What happened to the whole GA family. To me is sounds like you are tryin to create a monopoly(Exclusive control by one group). Familys are monoplies they are democracys. Why wouldnt you want to let the other cars have a change for an award. To me it sounds like you are scrared that MGAC is not going to walk away with all three awards so you'll just change it so they do. I dont think in any means that this is right.

Nikki
06-10-2003, 12:42 PM
Ok, sorry for the confusion!!!

I have just spoken with Mike Hurley, who is also coordinating this event...

The trophies WILL BE for EVERYONE!!!

I was simply relaying info that I had received from Adam, which I just found out WAS NOT TRUE!!

Adam has also stepped down from President of the MGAC....sorry for the bad info.

Now is everyone happy?!?! I think this is very fair now. And, yes I DID NOT agree with it in the first place.

False info??? HUH!!??

When this was set-up my both Mike and I, we brought it to Mr Morley (general manager) as an MGAC thing. He agreed and that was what it was. He agreed to get us trophies and dash plaques.

There WILL BE 30 dash plaques given away, and 3 trophies.

The reason that I had edited Mikes post to begin with is that I did not want there to be any confusion for Noonan Pontiac. NEVER did I say that 2Krucial is/was unwelcome on this or the MGAC board.

As Mike posted.... awards will be determined by Noonan staff. I agree, let them pick which they like the best.

....Rant....

It's things like this that I'm glad I no longer have to deal with as I have stepped down from the MGAC. :D No more politics, and no more drama :).....

P.S...... I fully apologize if I've just completely missed the boat...I have no grudges against anyone in the MGAC or 2Krucial. I ask this question not to be a smart ass, but I was just wondering if 2Krucial had events like this that MGAC members have been invited to??

Totally cool!! And that's fine.... I just wanted to perhaps enlighten people that perhaps things need to go both ways so that we don't have things like this come up. We in no way wished to exclude 2Krucial, and if it seemed that way, I sincerely apologize.

You guys talk about a GA family, yet you complain that you arn't goin to win awards, or be the best. I thought this was for fun and for the GA community, not for winning plaques and stating your status?

I don't mean for that post to be negative, or directed towards anyone in specific, but geezus..kinda rubbed me the wrong way at the 'tude some of you 2Krucial people cop. Besides, its something that Noonan is sponsoring, let them be the judge of it.

I know. And like I said, I didn't mean that in a negative way, or to stir things up. It just kinda..made me think twice about this whole "not fair, why can't we get awards too" thing. I mean, you guys are an all show club, you obviously will get appeal of some sort, and when its specifically Grand Am's, who do you think will get the upper hand? A "show" Grand Am club. When really, the point of this was to try and make it a small car club for the MGAC.

I dunno, i'm just speakin my mind, no biggie. No harm, no foul, no hard feelings.

A car show is a competition. dont give out awards if you dont want competition.

not anyone specific, so mention a club specifically. right.

If anyone is mad because they didnt win an award for their car, then DONT BRING IT TO A CAR SHOW. Dont plaster your club name all over a car show and complain when someone from a different club shows up with a better car. it's that simple.

Yet competition isn't necessarily always for the kill, its also for fun.

 Right, cause if I were to aim that at anyone specific, I would have had personal names or screen names quoted or pointed at. Thats what being specific is. Ya learn that in college yet?

You have your opinions, I have mine. I'm not mad or complaining. I just made note of a simple fact that we've have these "distresses" between the two clubs before cause something would be arranged within our former president, and then 2Krucial will be turned-off by it or offended. I shouldn't have to explain everything I say, but I decided I might as well for further reference.

This is why I live in Michigan and choose to remain "unaffiliated"! I went through the whole car club scene about 5 years ago. I got tired of being in a soap opera and left it all behind.

To each his own! I have too many pokers in the fire to even find time to attend meetings, etc. anyway.

But I will be at the show! :boogie:

ok, so I am joining the fray late, but here's what I thought and gathered from all of this.

First off, I agree that 2K SHOULD be in this thing. I mean Noonan is a pontiac dealership. Although MGAC set this up, we'll get props for the event, THAT'S our reward. MIGPC puts on MGM every year and invites EVERYONE, club affilliated or not to come, EVEN GA's. 'NUFF SAID there

To Kitty's comment: back it up and bring your ride. I think you'll be surprised by some of the cars in MGAC. I think 2K has VERY nice cars, I've met alot of them on Gratiot (sorry I don't mention that I'm GTManiac on here, but I've met most of you.), but so do we.

Josh's comment about being left out of the First MGAC meet: Well we've had many more besides that one. Where have you guys been? It's prolly cause it's a HUGE meet and it's ONLY the huge meets you wanna hit (I can understand that you wanna be a part of the big things we put on, but sometimes that shows a shallow interest, so don't be offended when we don't always include everyone), well sorry that one was MGAC only being as it was our FIRST meet. Don't you guys also have RESTRICTIONS as to who can be in your club? Something like ALOT (*insert 'SH!7LOAD' instead of 'ALOT'* for some people) of show and go items (dubs, tint, a system? something along those lines right?) Well we had some restrictions on the first meet. SO WHAT? get over it. If it really rode yer @$$ that much then you should have said it got over it, not bring it back up 2 months later.

A small simple question that in no way is meant to offend, it's just out of MY simple curiosity: "If there were no awards at Noonan, would 2K STILL be coming?"

Seeya (Jeff Ryder): yer right about a few things, but guess what? We may have had the problems (what club won't?) but we still hang together. Kinda different from disappearing completely and just giving up on everything and everyone. We're working on being better and it's this small squabbles we're looking to get rid of. You diss us for this squabble, but then again, WHY do you care?

Brendan: I like the idea of no awards, but I also like the idea of the awards, it builds healthy competition and reawrds those who put forth a great deal of work into their cars. Either way you go yer bound to have some sort of drama. People would complain if there weren't any awards.

To put this topic to rest ALL are invited, ALL can participate, ALL should get along. I plan on having a TON of fun at this meet and I hope that this squabble (this is lame and everyone should feel like an @$$ for b!7ch!ng about it.) ends. It's useless and I think some people need to check themselves and really rethink alot of what they said here. Shame on alot of you for having to be so divided over a piece of wood with plastic that is coated in fake gold. :nono:

I resigned because I had/have other ideas than what some club members did. It's not because grudges are held either way (At least I hope not). I do remember when we would all gather just to hang out and play A**hole. Those were the days! And you make a good point my friend. MGAC in retrospect should have stayed that way.

NO hard feelings. I think MGAC is headed in the right way this time. We're pretty much a collaboration of friends and acquaintences who all hang together and play with cars. The drama has subsided and I think we're finally looking ahead to a much more fun summer and many years to come.

I agree with you to a point on that.... but I thing it's really the direction that you want to take. In talking with other car clubs, that are quote, unquote "successful", there are certain rules and madates that have to be in place. That is if you want the club to "Make a name for itself"....that's where I went wrong and didn't consider the feelings/opinions of others.

With the new venture I hope to get people involved from day 1 that are seeking the same type of things.

Again, no hard feelings in any realm. We just all have different aspirations. :D

First, I don't think Bad_Kitty has seen Mike's car or mine either.;)

Second, I never even heard that Adam intended the awards to be for MGAC people only in the first place. I don't agree with that either and think they should be for everyone who comes. I also don't see why the 2Krucial people got so upset about it though. It's gonna be a small show (it's not street dreams after all:D ) so it's really not a big deal. Who cares about awards anyway? Problems been solved though so it's not an issue anymore.

I think everyone just needs to treat this as what it is. An oportunity to get together and have some fun. Don't place too much emphasis on this meet. I hope to see lots of 2krucial, MGAC, and just regular people with GA's and other pontiacs. It's deffinitly been too long since I've seen the 2K peeps. :) Anyone who hasn't seen my car in a while (or at all), if you can hang around until 5pm when I get outta work, I'll be by to show you my sick ride.

I agree!! But I don't think it was the club that wrecked it for MGAC, I think it was having the leadership...last year MGAC didn't have any Presidents, etc...and everything was fine.

But you're right JEFF...rules and mandates helped contribute to the problems...Adam just has different views on things.

Adam, I didn't mean anything by that...I had talked to Mike earlier that day and he told me that was not the case...so thats my reason for stating false info...maybe I shoulda worded that differently.

Wow...I should show up here a lil more. It seems like I just read two months worth of soap opera digest in the last two days from catching up. I guess being a lil ghost was a good thing being that I would have hated to see all of the drama. I remember last year when everyone would play nice...it's kinda like Kindergarten (sp) you were just happy to see another person w/ the same interests. You didn't care where they were from as longs as they played fair and didn't hog the sand box shovel or the fat red crayon. Now in year 2 it's kinda like 1st grade you know a lil more about the world and divisions start to form over small petty things. Maybe everyone needs to take a nap every day again:rolleyes: :D .

I trully do hope that this is all behind us...we are all (hopefully) mature adults and can tell when something is petty. 2Krucial and MGAC sould not be bickering over trophies and yes I think I can speak for 2Krucial in saying that we would've come w/out the competition...we showed up last year so we had plans to come when we heard about it this year. This will be my first major event of the summer in terms of numbers attended...as probably for a lot of ppl. Lets make this a fun day w/ no drama! Think back to last year when Adam let me use his lawn chairs. Steve had the triangle subs. Kevin was bumpn as usual. and somebody had a cooler w/ cool beverages(sorry memory is hazy on the name), C'mon ppl remember the fun from last year and lets erase the line in the sand and enjoy everyone's company again!

Sorry about the long post

Hey ... does anyone coming to the Show have a spare set of stock exhaust manifolds laying around? I know some of you have headers ...

PM me with a price and I'll bring the cash!

First of all, who cares if I have or haven't seen the kids car. I've seen lots of tricked out cars. I got the impression from you guys that you were afraid of having others compete against you, because it was all about mgac, at first.

Hehe, they're both older than you kid.

Anyhow, lets just all put the bickering behind us, it was just a small misunderstanding of words, we all got it out of our chests (other than holding it inside and talkin sh=t behind each others backs). Lets just have a good time Saturday, cause you know thats going to happen regardless of what we say on here damnit! lol

Edit: Craig, what engine? I know Alex has a set of 3400 exhaust manifolds that he has laying around after installing his headers. Why do ya need em? Aftermarket ones arn't working out?

I don't know how, but I completely missed your post man! Didn't mean to ignore!

Hey, I'm not trying to make a war, I was just stating what I thought, but since they are letting other ppl compete, then I guess I was wrong for saying that.

Yes, stock 3400's. I don't have aftermarket ones. I'm not buying headers to just turn around and hack them up for the turbo. I decided to use HEAVILY ported stock manifolds instead. This way, I can port the sh*t out of a set and then swap them in when they are done to take advantage of them pre-turbo.

Alex - want to sell them? How much?

Ok Craig, I know you and I don't always agree on things, and I'd like nothing else than to let you give Alex some money for his stock mani's, but I can't let you do that in good conscience, so don't take this the wrong way please. Before TOG's were available to us I talked to some grand prix guys who tried porting their stock mani's and they said they saw no difference on the dyno. Basically the cross section of the rear collector is too small compared to the size of all the exhaust ports to make it possible to increase flow significantly. They said that if you ported it enough to make the tiniest difference the cast iron would be too thin and might crack, and after installing Alex's headers and getting a good look at the stockers I have to agree. Rather than wasting my time on them, I'd just save up and at least get the S&S headers. They'd be way better anyway. Or just wait 'till you get a turbo. That's just my $.02 ok.

Sorry for getting off topic guys.:)

Aaron, The biggest concern is the port match. How do the stocker openings look compared to the gasket opening? Especially now that my head is ported to match the gasket. Also, with the turbo, I still want to do some mild porting to remove casting marks, nodules, etc.

As for headers, there is no way I'm dropping that kind of cash to sell them for 50% or hack them up. Maybe if I could find a used set for $200, but otherwise, no dice!

i think the biggest problem is people calling this a 'show.' having a couple awards does not equal a car show. are we charging people to come look at our cars? is EVERYONE that's coming entering themselves into some sort of competition? no and no.

as always i am glad that i am just coming to have a good time and hang out with friends. i could care less if your car is better than mine, i'm just out to have fun (and recruit hotties to come to our gatherings).
