Clearing and Chroming taillights?

I'm sure everyones seen the set of *** brakelights they made for RacerBetty and they were all chrome and what not. Well, how hard would it be to clear the taillights, sand the inside out and spray paint it chrome, to match the headlight's crystal look and effect? I've always wanted a set of euro tails but no one seems to make em, and I do not like ***'s set at all, but any comments on this?

yea i don't think it is possible. At least i don't think it would be possible to take the clear lens off and then reseal it. I dunno, I could be wrong.

anyways, i had the idea to paint the crhome black before i sealed it, but i wasnt sure how it would look and stuff.

Yeah thats what I may do. It shouldn't be hard to do, I already have a can of Krylon original Chrome. Just sand down in the housing (not the lens) and spray it down? I dunno, I just really want to keep the look the same. Front headlamps-chrome, rear tallights-chrome.

I sprayed the tails on my 2000 chrome....it worked out nice.....It actually made them duller than the highly reflectiveness it was originally....I wanted it to be duller b/c of my LED's plus it matched the car better....No matter how you paint the inside it will be duller than how it comes stock....PERIOD.

On my 03 I am painting the insides of the tails black and putting in LED's. I don't want to see anyone else doing this! I have already contacted the US Patent Office and I will sue anyone who attempts this!!!!:p lol

I painted the inside of mine chrome too because one of the tails I got had black spots from water gettin in the taillight... it looks good but like he said..it comes out duller than stock chrome.

So the only actual way to make the inside chrome is to actually get the inside chrome dipped I suppose? I don't even think thats possible is it? I really want it to look shiney chrome, not dull like it already is. Personally, I don't like how clear tails look, but I do like how chrome tails look lol, like Brendan said. Bling bling :D

oh and i think you can dip them in chrome (mabye). there is a shop here in houston that does that (dip stuff in chrome) but i dont know if they would dip plastic though.

I just dont like the little black lines on the SE. I dont want to say i hate them, but if i had a choice, i would like my tails w/o them. :)

but doesn't the tails have the same chrome-like material the headlights have?

I want to do the reverse of what your doing. I want my headlight chrome pieces black except the area around the bulbs. It would give the a far more aggressive look.

Well I am not giving up my sexy clear GT tails... with the dark red glass beehive clearance lenses I have in them make them look totally wicked at night. They look crimson, not red. I'd never go back to the SE tails.

When people do their own clear tails the reason it doesn't look like a bright shiny chrome is because of the lens. It's sort of smoke tinted so it doesn't look very good IMO. Thats why I'm just waiting to see if APC ever actually makes the clear tails they said they are.
