View Full Version : Turbos, superchargers, NOS kits?

Does anyone know where to get each of these? Does anyone still make the SC for our car (Y2KGAGT1). Ever heard of a turbo or twin turbo for this car? Modify one from another engine? How about NOS kits?
The reason this is not in the performance area is because I wanted to discuss the possibility of actually improving eta's by winding the motor over 9k revs or more.
Seems a front wheel drive car shouldn't have a blower because deep end torque just spins the wheels on launch.
A turbo would be better, because you get your torque at mid to higher rpm's.
I figure, if we could make this little 6 banger rev 9 or even 10k, we'd be at 12's on the track (and kick a$$ on all the ricers).
I want to get the aluminum heads, custom headers, turbo (or twin), intercooler, modified pistons, etc.
What would be limiting our RPM's? Hydraulic lifters? How 'bout mechanical. I used the Duntov mechanical cam on my 350 '67 camaro and easily tacked 8k (and no, I'm not insinuating we use an 8 cylinder cam in a 6, so lose the thought, its just to make my point).
Thoughts?
Any sure-fire way to get more gas at those RPM's beyond the chip and fuel pressure booster?
search the mod section....
BTW no way a gt would have room in the engine bay for TT

I hope you plan on replacing your motor often if you are reving that high.
As far as heads, check out a local place or www.streetarsenal.com
As far as internal engine work, look for a local place to do custom stuff, you won't find it anywhere else.
Headers: TOG or S&S
Superchargers: only production one now is RSM
Turbo is still in the works
N20 (not NAWWZZZ): search like kitt said
Searching for anything above should get you some good info.

Actually, it is very possible to fit a TT in the GA, we fit a TT into a 97 Dodge Avenger V6, now look at their engine bay and our, it will work. Anything is possible with the right mind and money. Sicklife spent a grand alone on piping but it all worked out. It can be done!

Thanks for the links.
Anywhere to get trans upgrades? Anything that will make ours more robust?

Well i can think of a fue things that will stop the 3.4 form reving to 9-10 grand
1)bearings
2) rods and pins
3)pushrods valve springs valves
4) a crank that is no weighted for that kind of speed
you could do it all engine with no Forced induction but all of this would have to be adressed and more

it would be an easier task to accomplish w/ a quad motor.. :D

Hell yeah any inline will take more RPM's than a V styel engine. there is way for yaw with a V styal engine

Did everyone read my original post?
My chevy 350 tac'd 8k with a Duntov cam and mechanical lifters. Sure it was a 4 bolt main 350 engine with all the rollers and threaded posts etc., etc...And everyone tells me the 3.4 is a 5.7 (or 350) with two pistons removed, essentially.
But how many bikes can tac that high? Like, all of them?
BTW, all your nascars are averaging 9k all day long at the races! (Please don't post the difference between our motors and nascar motors, I know more than you think).
I'm just trying to get people to think outside the box.
No way we're gonna beat a BB chevy, or even a small block Ford or Chevy with LOW END TORQUE. My post was to stir the debate of 1/4 mile times. You don't need to go from 0-60 in 3 seconds if you can ultimately go from 60-120 in less than 9 seconds!
See where I'm going with this?

OK Clam down man take a deep breath All i'm saying is that a 3.4 would need some major internal mods to turn that kind of speed. From the factory BB chevys did not turn 8000 rpm. but from the factory a B18C5 turns that easy. and you can still improve on that in the aftermarket. i know the fastest all motor type R does 12's with a B18C5 that redlines at 11500. all I listed was the weak points of most V styal pushrod engines. But yes it is vary possible to make the 3.4 turn that kind of speed

Screw all those, if you want RPM's jus poke a little 13b rotary in there and have yourself a ball ;)
