I just got my Black GT, I have taken it twice to be washed. I use one of the local high pressure, wand wash places rather than an automated car wash. My problem is when I started drying the car, I noticed that there were spots (like water spots) where the dirt was. When rubbed the corner of my chamois over it, the spots came clean, but the chamois was dirty.

Would a clay bar be used in this kind of situation to get rid of those spots? I plan on hand washing the car as much as possible, but for those times when there just isn't time to break out the bucket, I would still like to keep the car shiny!

Can anyone give me other options if the clay bar is not the right choice.

Thanks

Hand washing it would be better then that wand wash with brush. and a good rinse.

Yeah... What he said. :)

I get the same result on my car, which is black. Nothing will substitute a good do-it-yourself hand wash with a quality wash mit. The spot left on you car are dirt that the high pressure can't remove. High pressure water will only go so far. You need to rub the rest of the dirt off.

I never use the brush at a car wash. Picture this.........The guy that was in that bay just before you is cleaning his mud covered tires on his 4x4 and he sets the brush nack when he is done. You now enter the bay and start scrubbing your car and now you see tiny stones and mud coming out of the brush scratching your car all to ****. I don't think so!!!! that's why I never use the brushes. I now wash with a Meguiar's washing sponge that is covered with a towel like material. It seems to be working very nice. As far as any water spots you have, try using Meguiar's Quick Deatailer. It is also a nice product. LOL, yes, I do use alot of thier stuff :)

I've seen and heard the result of that. Oh man, it was like nails on a chalkboard. I don't think I've ever used one of those brushes on any of my cars. I just use the high pressure wash/rinse if my car is really dirty. I'm looking forward to this weekend... First hand wash of the season baby!! OH YEAH!! :boogie:

Okay, so I got a little excited about that... Sue me!

thanks everyone for the quick response!

I should have mentioned that I don't use the brush at all. I have the maguires detail spray, but was afraid that the residue might scratch the paint. If if won't I will definately use that (When I can't hand wash that is)

Thanks again!

Water has dirt particles in it. That's where the water spots are coming from.... Either that, or the water spots are collecting dust as you drive. The only way to get rid of those water spots would be to dry off the car immediately. The only way. Nothing will prevent the water spots from coming, drying it off is the only solution.
