View Full Version : Major problems with the dealer

Today I went to the dealer where my car is from to have the signal lever switch changed. What should've been a simple warranty issue turned into a disaster that got me banned from that dealership. The idiot tech that installed the new switch decided to break all of the wires that run to my Intelliglow needles because he wasn't sure what they were. He admitted he was wrong and said that they would probably pay for it. When the service manager saw what had happened he said that they weren't responsible for it because it was an aftermarket upgrade and could void the warranty! Since when can Intelliglow needles void the warranty? And why the hell would the tech have to touch the wiring to the guages when the switch that needed to be replaced was on the front of the column?
To make a long story short, the service manager went on a rampage checking all of my aftermarket equipment. He even had the audacity to say they would not replace my side windows for the typical window scratch problem because I have a carbon fiber interior kit. He said that the piece on the door switches could affect the window track! What an a**hole!
What ever happened to the old adage of "the customer is always right"? And since when did people stop taking responsibility for their mistakes? :rage: When I took the issue up with Pontiac customer service this service manager went on to say that I have high performance engine mods, and major interior mods, everything to avoid the actual issue that they screwed up and weren't going to be held responsible. Furthermore he said I was no longer allowed to go there for service, a blessing in diguise actually seeing the quality of the service.
The moral of the story is be careful with your mods and know your service department well, and Joe down at Jim Curley Pontiac, go f yourself!

I hope you can find another dealership that doesn't have such horrible customer service. Sounds like you might be SOL on the needles though since the dealership screwed it up and blamed it on you.
I'm wondering, how did you not knock that service manger out? I probably would have blown a few fuses!

Ya know, I really don't know how I refrained from killing that guy. I probably should have because I still feel like I'm going to explode!:rage: Can you imagine not taking responsibility for your mistakes. I told him, being a surgeon , that if I performed an operation to remove a colon cancer from a family member, and accidently cut a major artery the patient died, can you imagine if I said well it's the patients fault for having that artery in way. Not my problem. If only it worked that way, I'd have no stress.

drburns that guy is way wrong about everything you just said.
Whada D-bag!!
First of all aftermarket or not they should have fixed what they screwed up. period. YEAH they could of gave you sh!t about the needles but thats it.
Anyway going to another Pontiac dealer will solve your problem with future issues for they don't even research previous disputes with "other" dealers as far as I remember.
One dealer tried to not cover my round dash vents, that where spinning uncontrolably from freinds playing with them, because I had an "aftermarket" radio in it.wtf
They said I "altered" the dash board:rolleyes:
I went right to another dealer after a long and painful debate with pontiac and they replaced them no questions asked;)

Complain to GM about the dealer. In my experience, they DO listen to a customer who has been mistreated by a dealer, because they realize it reflects on them. Nothing may come of it, but if they receive enough complaints about the dealer, GM will make them pay for their mistakes.

Believe it or not there is a happy ending to this story. After relating the story to Pontiac customer service, and 2 weeks after the fact, customer service told me that the dealer will reimburse me for the intelliglow needle kit. I just have to present the receipt to the dealer, and they'll cut me a check. Unfortunately I'll probably have to pay for the gauge calibration again because it's tough to get the speedometer just right.

This same service manager doesn't want to replace my scratched windows because I have the carbon fiber interior overlays. He said that I modified the doors by putting the carbon fiber on the window/lock switches. wtf
Wow what a crock....I feel for you, I have bad experience with dumbasses also.

Well the only good news is that the dealer supposedly cut a check for the amount of the intelliglow kit today, but I still have to find another dealership. One place here in White Plains wouldn't check to see if my guages were calibrated because I modified the car, even though I was going to pay for the service. Absolute douchebags!

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought they had
to prove your mod caused the problem in order to
void the warranty.I read some where (maybe here)
about the Magnson Moss Act I beleive it applies to warranty
coverage. Like I said I maybe wrong so some body else know more?

Although I must have missed your first post about your problems, I feel for you. My dealership is really good about the mods I have done. If that happened to me, you better believe I will make the biggest scene those pricks could imagine. That is just horrible customer service and that fact they are blaming their errors on you, just would be the boiling point for me. I hope that dealership goes out of business. Let as many people as you can know about their horrible service.
