Sounds like a bad window regulator. If it was going up a little then stopping.... then going up a little more, stopping again. That almost sounds like something was getting hot or stuck inside the regulator/motor. Common problem with GM cars... the window motors going bad.

definately a bad window motor. Same thing happened on mine. I had the window motor replaced and it fixed it... mostly. It's slower going up now so mine might need the new regulator too. At any rate, it ain't cheap.

Sween, you might try greasing the tracks and pivot points on the window/regulator. They get all gummed up over time and cleaning them out can really help speed up the motors. This also will help the motor last longer since it doesn't work quite as hard. Some people have used WD-40 but I would look for something a little different not only to clean but to lube it as well.

My power window motor on my drivers went on my '97 at about 60k, then the passengers at about 80k before tading it in.

It was last summer, so i don't remember exactly what it cost but it was at least 300 parts and labor. probably more like 350.
