All right,
I took the plunge and have purchased a Pony Car, 1985 Ford Mustang, black conv. The reason I went thru with it was because of the motor, which only has 500 miles. It is a 351 Windsor crate motor from FordMotorSports. It is rated for 385HP and cost about $5800, I have the reciepts. Let's just say, I got the car (beat body) fully operational (strip features L/L, Tach etc), 'cept the dash's inaccuracy, for a very good price. :D The motor was short shifted at the track for a mid 13 as said by the owner, and he seemed to wish to prove this to me by laying track down his street into 3rd gear... not bad I suppose. Will post E/Ts here when she is ready for ME and the track...
I hope to be enjoying the power soon, but I need to do a lot of work to clean it up (read, make it safe) and secure wiring, replace wimpy stock parts/accessories, determine the absolute status of the brakes/suspension, and to try and get it closer to the ever tightening emissions regs. Then, making her pretty - finding a drop in car for all the equipement, or resurrecting this car's bod.
...Now, before the flames...;) ; It was either this or a bike, I figured my life would be safer with this... Right?
I'll post pics tomorrow!

All right, I am going to be cleaning up the car for the next few weeks and getting it ready for the street... I will post pics of the project when I it begins taking shape, it needs some work right now, but it should be done soon based on time, $$$ and UPS.

What condition is the rag top in? Will you have to replace that as well? What color is the top?
I'm sure you'll have fun reconditioning this car. Should be a sweet ride when done. Keep us posted.

The top has some tears in it. I need to determine how to repair it. It has a glass rear windshield as well, and is fully operational up and down. Depending on the cost I may just purchase another car witha blown/high miles motor.;)

i have a dumb question/comment so please bare with me. i thought u werent supposed to do any racing/peeling out/standing on it, until the motor is broken in at over 500 miles.
or is there like less likely to be somekind of harm done on a motor like that even with low mileage?
sounds like a killer car though...i cant wait to see the pics!

All right! Here is a pic of the car that will receive my Windsor. It is a 1992 LX 5.0 HB. The car is in excellent shape inside and out. It just needs a replacement for it's 5 liter HO, that is ready.;) Thanks for all the good words guys!
