OK, I've been running my car in the 1/4 for a while now, and it's a lot of fun. BUT....
Today I ran my '98 GT 4 cyl in it's first SCCA Solo 2 autocross, AND I'M HOOKED FOR LIFE!! Seriously folks, I'll be dreaming about little red cones for weeks to come. I haven't had a permagrin this big on my face since I bought my first car!
Over the course (Pardon the pun, please!) of my 10 runs, I shaved 5.753 seconds off my time, finishing in the middle of the pack for my class. The wonderful low end pull of our beloved 2.4 served me well, allowing me to pull through the chicanes low in 3rd for a nice smooth run whilst the Focai and Civics screamed through at 6k in 2nd, for very choppy transitions. With better rubber (I had bald stock RSA's in front and newer but cheap H rated all seasons in back) I could easily have finished well toward the front of the HS stock class!
Anyway, I look forward to posting about this a lot in the future, in the meantime - screw engine mods, I need new swaybars and some strut ties!!! :D
