i cant even begin to say how awesome it is....
i only recently got hooked on the detailing scene and i gotta say, im addicted.
Just bought Z1, Z5 and Z6 of the Zaino stuff and i cant wait to see how its gunna turn out. I gotta owe alot of the credit to my new found addiction to the detailing guys on this site. Reading and learning has helprf me out alot. Especially a few specific guys who helped me out. Anyway, i gotta get back to my clean car....

Good stuff make sure you get some kinda protectant on there ASAP while there's nothing protecting the paint now..

Claybar is cool tho, gets all the crap off the paint, I love it

If you are going to zaino... you should do it immediately after claybarring.

If you claybarred... nothing is on the paint to protect it.. whether it be wax, zaino, whatever...

Dude, i used to be just like you...all worried about doing things to my car that im not sure about. But as a guy thats been in your shoes, i gotta say, it was SO easy. You got nothing to worry about. here is what i did.
Just go out and buy the mothers clay bar kit. It gives you everything you need. Take out the clay bar and roll it into a ball and then flatten it. Then spray a small section of the paint with the spray included and then move the clay bar back and forth. the flip it over and then keep going back and forth over the area. In my opinion all that stuff about hearing the "scratching" sound is pointless cause you dont really hear anything. Just go over the whole car with both sides of the flattened clay bar and you should be ok. Now that section is done. Then roll the clay bar into a ball again and flatten it and then go on to the next section. Make sure you wipe off the spray after going over it with the bar. It took me about 2 hours to do the whole car. Shouldnt actually take that long but i was just being extra anal about it.

good luck and DONT worry!...no problems, its problem free!

um, i would just like to let you guys know, that a clay bar doesnt take off wax. i used to use one after almost every wash.

will remove embedded grains of metal, tree sap, airborne environmental deposits and paint overspray. Better yet, our clay bar isn't hazardous to your paint-it's just firm enough to pick up the bad stuff, without being too aggressive. Use Mothers® Clay Bar to get rid of paint-fouling grime and pave the way for complete waxing.

in other words.. clean the paint, take off the crap, including wax

Yes, a claybar WILL take off wax, polish, or anything else that might be on the surface.

From what I hear this stuff works great ..... but I have a few questions.

1. After uesing the calybar should you wax your car ?
2. Where can you buy the kit?
3. Do you do one area at a time or the whole car and then wipe the whol car off?

1. Yes. After claying the car, there is no protecant left on the clear coat.
2. Most part stores or dept stores have them.
3. Directions say one 2 foot area at a time.

I'm sold on claybars too. The first time using it scared the heck out of me, because it felt like it was gonna scratch, but it didn't. Like everyone here has said just keep the area real wet with the spray detailer, and all is well. Like someone above said, it works great on glass too!! Sure feels good after its claybared and waxed!! Has a shine a mile deep.

...not to mention how easily polish/wax goes on and comes off a clayed car.

OMG you wouldn't believe how true that is... Try waxing a car that hasn't had wax on it at all, or for months on end... Total PITA, but after claybaring... WOW!

I just bought the kit yesterday and was reading the insert and it said that you can do a average size car 3 times before the claybar becomes contaminated ......... kinda crapy. How often have you guys been claybaring your cars?

1.5 years experience. I could claybar my car 5-10 times, or more, before I would need a new piece.

How does that work or does it depend how bad your car is? I did mine and the bar was yellow when I started but by the time I was done it was a dark green just absolute crap color. I saved it so that I could touch up spots that get sap on them but if you can use it like 5 times thats cool.

I think it all depends on how contaminated ur paint is...if u clay bar on a regular basis, it will last longer, than claybaring once a year

well I washed and dried my car until it was totally spotless then I claybared ( you know ... spray, rub, wipe ) then I waxed it. Then I figured I might as well do the hole car so I did the windows, interior, shined up the rims and rubber

Do I have to wash my car if it is really dirty before I use Mothers clay bar? I am planning on doing right now but does the temp. also matter? Thanks

When your claybar isn't yellow or blue anymore you have to meed and fold it!!! You can't just keep using one spot of the claybar and expect it to work without scratching your paint. Once the bar is dirty, meed and fold so till it's clean again.

Just follow the directions on Zaino's website, or no the back of the Mothers bottle.

You should be able to pick up a claybar at any auto store. Personally I hate mothers claybar because it just breaks apart when you pull it apart, whereas the Zaino claybar stretches.

DEFINATELY make sure you wash your car REALLY good before claybarring! I usually don't dry mine, I just start in a small area, spray it with a mixture of soap(zaino) and water and do small areas. After you're done claybarring you MUST wash your car again.

careful, it looks like wax dissolves the claybar. laid my applicator down on top of the claybar after i was done using it and didn't think anything of it. After i was done I found the claybar to be very sticky and non-claylike where it was touching the applicator.

Other than that, it looks like the claybar does it's job best when you've used it a few times regularly. My car hadn't been deep cleaned in it's 2-3 year lifetime and after washing it, rinsing it, drying it and using the spray mother's gives you... it still looked like crap after claybaring. But the crap that was left was microfine dirt, and what it took off after i had seriously washed it was impressive.
