Anyone wanna admit that my boy's defense is f'in wicked for this next year??? We have had a good defense the last 5 years, but this year takes it to a new level, one that will hopefully solve the December jinx!!
Jason Taylor- Pro Bowler
Tim Bowens- Pro Bowler
Larry Chester- 3rd season mammoth
Adewale Ogunleye- had 8 sacks last year in second season
Zach Thomas - Pro Bowler, future Hall of Famer
Junior Seau - Pro Bowler, future Hall of Famer
Morlon Greenwood/Eddie Moore - Both fast, but our weak link on normal defensive sets
Sam Madison - Pro Bowler
Pat Surtain - Pro Bowler
Brock Marion - Pro Bowler
Sammy Knight - Pro Bowler
Terrell Buckley (nickel back) - consistent playmaker

Hey man, I agree with you 100%! Now if we can get a quarterback in there (and no, Fiedler will NEVER cut it) :-) we'll be all set.
I simply can't wait to see the defense play together this year! I'm SO pumped!!!

Dolphins Suck! JK, actually sounds like their defense will be even better than last year. Who was their quarterback last year that sucked so bad? I mean the Bills beat them twice last year if I recall correctly, mostly due to the horrible play of the quarterback. So if they get good play from the quarterback, they will be tough to beat.

AMRAAM, I remember last year my Broncos lost to your Dolphins in that o.t. thriller, and we talked about it. I was just curious to know how you feel about Brian Griese coming into town? I am glad the Broncos got rid of him because of his inconsitency, but I do feel getting away from Shanahan will help him regain pro bowl form. I guess anything is better than Ray Lucas. I have to agree, the Dolphins D looks good this year.

Fiedler is a quality QB when he plays, his injury bug each year is the issue. Last year he was top 5 in the league after week 6, but then he had the busted thumb. Experts and fans are still spoiled over having this guy called......uhhhh, Dan Marino...all those years so it is difficult to adjust to a QB that can't throw a ball like a machine. I stick by my saying that if Fiedler finished an entire season, starting every game, he will make 3rd string Pro Bowl.
AS for Griese, he is miles ahead of Ray Pucas, I'll take him. Not to mention I think getting him out of Denver into a fresh environment where his family is from and honored will do him wonders. This year he'll be a backup because it is basically Fiedler's last guaranteed year of the contract, then next season will be up for grabs if Jay doesn't come through again. Shanahan, I'm sorry, but he is a jack@ss and would drive me to drink too.

The way Dallas, Washington and NYG have upgraded this offseason....Philly could be looking at 4th place in the NFC East after losing the key players they have.
I still wonder how Philly is the team they are each year. They have McNabb and Staley, then Dawkins, Simon and Vincent. All the rest either suck or are drastically overrated (you'll see this in Hugh Douglas this upcoming season).

It's all about the Niners, too bad they don't play Miami this year. Miami is my brother and good friend's team and I love teasing them when Niners beat them :D

I agree. I think he had the highest winning percentage of any other QB last year in the regular season, he just missed so many games. I like his style tho, he actually moves in the pocket and isn't a ball hog like Marino. Basically they didn't make it to the post season because of the problem Miami always has, win near playoff time and actually holding together for 4 quarters. Seems that like the Heat, the Dolphins like giving it up in the 4th quarter.

I am kind of hoping you aren't serious about the comment regarding Marino being a "ball hog," because if you are that's really funny. First of all, the quarter back touches the ball about 95% of the time on any team, so that term doesn't really make any sense when talking about a quarterback. Second, have you ever heard someone talk about Elway as a ball hog? Young? Kelly?
I'm not trying to be argumentative here, but when you have one of the best players to play the game on your team, you tend to be appreciative when he has the ball in his hands, no matter what.
All Miami fans are spoiled having him, although I still don't see Fiedler as the answer UNLESS there is someone behind him that can play in his stead when he's injured...depth is key with a non-superstar at the helm.
Just my 2 cents.

Another blind Dolphin fan. When he was extremely awesome (when he began until maybe 4 years before he retired) he was awesome. People didn't notice so much of his ball-hogging and blame that he placed on others for his mistakes because he was just so damn good that you couldn't find fault. I also think that is why people refused to believe what was happening at the end of his career. He could still throw a 10-20 yard bullet accurately, but everything else he ever had was gone. And his speed somehow got worse (as if that was even humanly possible). I remember seeing him scramble for 10 yards and everyone went crazy. I look at Michael Vick and I laugh at the idea of cheering for a 10 yard scramble.
And yes, I did just call him a ball hog, and no, I'm not kidding.
He would change plays on the field (when Jimmy Johnson wasn't willing to cater to his ball-hogging when he tried to get a running game going with Abdul Jabar) and then he'd screw up plays. If the coach says run the ball, run the damn ball. I wanted to smack Marino when his dumbass would call an audible on a 2nd and 1 and then throw the ball and then do the same thing on 3rd and one, and next thing you know, we had to punt the ball. That is the definition of a ball hog, one that will go to great lengths to make sure that he is responsible for each play. Marino was a special blend tho, the kind that not only hogs the ball, but then proceeds to blame all others on the team but themself for the mistakes made. A quarterback is one that coordinates what the team does as a whole in order to give the team the best chance for victory. Two completely different things there bud.
I used to love Marino, but then I just got sick of him his last couple of years. Let's just say that the last game against the Jaguars was a fitting end to his carreer. To mention Elway in the presence of Marino is a smack in the face to Elway, who won Superbowls at the end of his carreer vs. Marino who lost in a horrible game that was almost a shutout against the freaking Jacksonville Jaguars.

Forgot some of their other key players like taylor, and their o-line. The reason the defense has been the way it has is because jimmy johnson the d-coardinator has built it to fit his players. That's why they blitz so much. I highly doubt they will finish in fourth. They didn't really have that many key losses except for Hugh Douglas(overated) and shawn barber(who they already replaced with a player of the same caliber). look for them to be as good if not better than last year.

No I didn't forget Taylor, contrary to his Pro Bowl nomination...he sucks. 2 years ago people couldn't stand him in Philly. You're from PA, like my g/f, I would expect you to think more of certain players because you see them more often. But for the other 95+% fans, the Eagles have a handful of players at best. Long season ahead. Plus they are going to regret paying McNabb that money for such a long time. When he gets older he won't be so effective at running and his passing abilities aren't his storng suit to turn to.

Who can finish a season on a broken/fractured ankle?

McNabb was out 8+ weeks. That still has nothing to do with him being able to throw when he is healthy. Don't make this into an argument.

actually taylor has always been pretty well liked in philly. Two years ago he was coming off a pretty serious knee injury the season before and wasn't at his best. Before the knee injury he was already one of the up and coming corners in the game. I don't know how anyone could think that they are overated when they've had one of the top defenses the past 5 years.
