I took my car for it's first road trip yesterday (I've now got 2200 KMs on it!) . Last night after washing the dead bugz off the front, I noticed a rock chip in the hood. The chip is not smooth like a layer of paint were taken off, it's kinda rough like it went through the paint and into the hood itself. Does anyone know if there is an easy way to touch this up?

The car is black, and the chipped part is white? are the hoods made of fiberglass? Am I just on crack?

I didn't have a chance to look at it today, becase I was too mad before I went to work.

Thanks for helping a newbie!

Hood = Metal

white= primer

Touchup paint = quick fix

don't tailgate = chip free hood

Now your car is no longer perfect.... you can stop worrying about it so much now.

I had 2 people ding my doors within a couple of months of getting mine.

Last week, I drove up a driveway I knew I shouldn't... and I scraped the bottom of the front bumper piece on the cement. That made me madder (even though you can't see it) because it was my own dumb fault.

Don't tail gate my ass. Chips are inevitable. Rocks are unpredictalbe and can fly for a huge distance. You gotta find that sweet spot. Not too close, but not too far. My car is 50/50 city and highway. It has so many chips. What can you do. Take what you got and do the best with it you can.

Tell me about it!!! I have rock chips, car door dings and just seen yesterday that it looks like someone brushed up against my front bumper. I get so mad every time is see a new mark! As far as tail gating, if them A**holes would not pull out right in front of you and make you have to brake then do 50 in a 55, what do you expect us to do??? Let them get away with it! NOT! Hey, if i rear end them it is their fault for pulling out in front of me not to mention, i could replace my hood with a ram air one! lol.

I wouldn't count on that. Anytime you hit someone in the rear, they pretty much find you at fault. They will say, you weren't driving in a fashion to avoid the accident. Even if they slam on their brakes in front of you, the cops will say you were not following at a distance that allowed you room to avoid the accident.

I know, i was just kidding kinda. What if they cut you off and you don't have time to slam on the brakes? I had that happen, i had to swerve over to the side of the road before. Idiot drivers!:rage:

It will be both of your faults. You for not paying attention to your surroundings, and not driving cautiously... And them for not looking both ways before they pulled out, and yadda yadda. Hope that helps :)

wtf When you get cut off, just speed up and hit them in the side instead of the rear. Then maybe you'll be okay!:p

BTW if you wanna get touch-up paint get it from your dealer. They'll get the exact match according to your color-code.

Aftermarket touch-up is almost always a bit off the actual color and it looks like ****.

Look...a car is not going to stay perfect no matter how much you want it too. Not even brand new cars are perfect. Every car has door dings, scratches, or paint defects etc. They just aren't perfect, nothing is.

I've got rock chips too. I noticed when I was washing my car that I have a door ding in the passenger's side cladding. Appareantly, someone with a white car opened their door and banged mine. The groove is white. :mad:

Not Tailgating DOES cut down on rock chips, my rock chips have come from tailgaters or Semi Trucks, they throw rocks like nuts.

SC/T Hood isnt metal its fiberglass with some compsite material:) The white look would either be the primer or fiberglass if it actally gouged into the hood.
