still be on the lookout, cause there is no telling where all my stuff is going
i believe i got them spotted, with some investigating good thing they made room in the trunk for them, i know they are plotting on my rims cause they got the key to my rims, but not the other 2 i just got on, and with this alarm thats in that pages me when you touch my ****, its on!
i was sittin in my ride last night (cant see in), and saw 2 guys checking me out for over hour, noticed a flashlight first then they sat hidden 25 feet away in all dark clothes, but i could see them, they were there from 3:15 am, till after 4:15 am, and it was thunderstorming, they werent under anything at all!!! they went back inside there apartment, which is the same building i have been staying!, then i got out of my ride, went and waited, when one of the guys came back outside, he started to my car, saw me, turned around and speed walked the other way, not saying a word, i was staring straight at his ass, they are acting too suspicious, and the police think so too,
i think i got them,
wait till you hear about this gangsta ****

still havn't had any luck, but with the $500 reward for turning the people in should stir up something hopefully
if it was the people in the complex, im sure they dont have any of the stuff there anyways, so its gonna be hard, i just have to rely on my word of mouth to everyone around,as of a week ago, if you touch my car, it pages me, so im hoping to get these guys if they try to come back for my rims, some one needs to go to jail for a long time, the $4,400 worth of stuff, and over $600 of damage for the getting in, some one wrote themselves a deathwish, i got an infa-red beam for them when they come back
i still cant get over this ****, especially since my insurance isn't covering it
so loosing thousands is no fun, everyone without aftermarket alarms, the stock grand am alarm can be turned off so easy its not even funny, im just warning everyone, they way they did mine, they reached up undernieth the passenger side fog light, and disconnected the horn from the top, i could barley reach it to plug it back in, that is all it took to disable the factory alarm,
now on the other hand, still have no clue how after knocking out the key hole, what they did to unlock the door, but what ever they did worked
everyone be careful, learn from my gone in 60 seconds jack, cause its appearantly pretty easy
and remember, anyone see anything that looks like its out of my car, $500 for turning them in and notifying me
that custom grand am "GT" logo box should not be hard to find cause i know it will probably end up in a GA, same with the dash piece with the screen and the cd player on it, that was custom done, and if anyone see's a GA with it let me know, they may have just thrown that dash piece away but you never know
peace

The grand am doesn't come with a alarm from the factory. It has a keyless entry system, but that's it.

Uhh, buddy, sorry to hear about the car but you need to chill out.
1.) There is no factory alarm system that goes off when trying to get in the car as far as I have ever known. It's only a theft deterent system in starting the car, maybe it changed in 2001 though.
2.) They used a slide hammer on your doorlock, pretty easy getting in once that doorlock is ripped out.
3.) Infra-red beam for them? gangsta ****? HUH?? What happens when you wait all alone, jump 2-3 guys with your bat and then they proceed to beat you to within an inch of your life or flat out kill you. They are obviously criminals, don't press it already.
4.) An alarm that pages...that is more beneficial than one that does not page in this circumstance? You're trying to catch them, not just get the 411 when they are doing it. I'll still bet money they are gone by the time you get there or are running away.
5.) Did you have the car fingerprinted already???
6.) Shame for not keeping receipts for your stuff, if the insurance won't pay for it then you didn't have the right coverage for your car with that stuff. If all that fails, change your insurance company.....that's what they are for!!

Nope, my 2002 doesn't have a true factory alarm either. I do know that GM has an alarm available that adds all the features similar to the one found on the Grand prix. But it is not available straight from the factory.

dude seriously.... i feel your pain! someone just snagged my 18's the other night. do yourself a favor and go spend $20.00 and go get all new wheel locks! if they have your old key thats fine... because any good tire shop will be able to get the wheel locks off for you and put the new ones on. just hide that key a little better this time! as for my wheels, my insurance policy will not cover it because i bought them off of a friend, and have no recipts for them... so i am outta $500!

no factory alarm?
lock your doors with the windows down, unlock it from the inside and open the foor and see what happens, same as, once you've locked your doors with the remote, if your window got knocked out and they unlocked it from the inside, the horn will sound, your do have some kind of alarm, i've set it off a couple times
had all my receipts
i was told i had proper coverage i asked, my agent (my mom) signed me up said i had $5000 worth of coverage for customazation, and said i would be fine, i could sue her right now so i dont want to talk about it, im not going too, but i was totally misinformed about my policy, cause when signing up, i made sure i would be covered for all that

Just me, you don't. If you do, then it may be a GM alarm added after the purchase of the car. The Malibu, Grand am, and Alero do not come from the factory with an alarm. My 2002 does not have an alarm at all.

i know my car did, and so did the thieves, they knew exactly what to do to keep it from going off, now there isn't a shock sensor or anything, but it is setup to go off if the doors are opened after i've locked the door with the remote, the horn sounds and all the lights flash

alright dude somethings fishy. You need to stop and think backwards alittle. Have you ever told anybody that you have a factory alarm??? or showed anybody where the horn is, etc? Most theives dont even think about a factory alarm or disable it. 9 out of 10 times the people that burgularize your car are people that know you either personally or have either stalked your car or asked you before about it. Its gotta be someone you know, it just sounds strange to me. Just my .02. Next time dont tell anybody anything about your alarm.

there wasn't any wires left or anything, except rca's, and power
everything else was gone and clean
it was wierd

I would almost say yeah that might be your culprit, ive heard of horror stories about people that worked at a shop going back and stealing peoples possessions out of their car because they now know all about it after working on it.
Still by the way it sounds it was someone that DEFINATELY knew about your car and how stuff was installed, etc. The **** points to the shop, a friend or someone that knows alot about your car. Could also been someone that hangs out at the place that installed your stuff.....
I think i would get some friends have have them go into the place that had put your stuff in and scope the place and see if they are trying to resale your stuff or if they have it, etc. If you go in on your own they will definately know who you are.

that's pretty scary... especially if you get some high tech alarm installed... then the alarm people come steal your stuff. that would be bad. highly unlikely... but possibly bad.
i'm considering changing out my security system. but if anyone can carry out my sub and box... i'm impressed. that thing ways at least 150, and i had to take out the seats... and jam it in there. its in a really awkward position... you have to have people pushing, people pulling, people moving stuff around... lol
but i am a little worried about people going for my neon lights. one of those alarms with the pager would be cool... but it would just tell me someone is trying to rob me... if i went out there and there was a gang or something, not much i can do... except call the police.
eh, security systems are theft deterrance. if the criminal robbing you really wanted you stuff, he could just bust up your car, take what he was looking for, and get out of there before anyone could stop him/her.

i have the stopping power, no one will ever jack my **** again,
and looking over everything once again, they knew exactly where the screws were and everything, the way that dash piece was put on, it had to be the installer cause they are the only ones that knew where they put everything, i never knew that those screws where there, they weren't visable, and in a very hard place to get to, they had all proper tools to reach these areas and everything

Know the pain my dads BMW had the HU, 10 disk changer, one 8, two 12, and a tool box. But it was to clean, the dash was not damage, power, rca wires still there. Even thou one the doors did not lock unless you push it down. Their is noway to get into the trunk unless you have a key. It was at a repair shop when this happen. They said Mr.Johnson this how we think they got in to the back thru the arm rest. Then on the way home me and my dad were like WTF how they got all that stuff thru the arm rest in the back seat. Then my dad rememeber about that you need a key to get into the trunk. He went back the same day and :rage: the people.
But when my friend had his car jack his dash was all mess up and wires cut and pulled

Be smart... even when getting my windows tinted, I made sure to take ANYTHING of value out of my car... including even a freaking dollar. Not to mention all of my cd's.
I've gone to copying all of my cd's and only playing the cd copies in my car (they sound JUST as good, as long as you use a high bitrate) and making it widely known that _anyone_ can have a copy of them if they ask. Also, I'd go minimalistic when it comes to replacing your stereo system. The Monsoon system is pretty badass, you might want to hook up a subwoofer or something, or some better speakers if one blows, but geez, I'm a guitarist for 16 years and it sounds great. Just don't **** with my car. Not a good idea. :)

Too bad the theft deturrent in South Africa isn't allowed here. They have such high rates of car theft (highest in the world) that they now have alarm systems that shoot flames from under the door if someone tries to play games with your car.

As for knocking the lock out and then getting the door open. Trust me on this. GA doors are way to easy to slim jim. I thought they would have some kind of blocker plate but they dont. Had a buudy who happened to have a set of slim jims try it on my car. And no he doesnt do this for a living or have alot of experience. He had my door open in under 20 seconds!

as far as the factory alarm system thingy goes, my moms 2003 GA SE has one, if her windows are down and i reach in and unlock it (not hitting unlock) then i open the door the alarm goes off

I would be so ****ing ****ed about people breakin into my car *cause i was a bad boy in the past, and i know how to* but like ur dad's bmw there is no way in HELL that u can enter my trunk without a key on my prizm, only 2 keys exsist for it. and the back seats DONT fold down, i almost had a hernia *sp* tryin 2 see if they could....and also my ins. policy has my 2 10" mtx thunder 5000's and a lighting audio amp for like 30 bucks extra...just in-case.

I have yet to see a grand am with a factory alarm. It's not an option! Now, the dealer CAN install an alarm system in the car and sell it like that, but that's it, no factory alarm.

Factory alarm isnt really an alarm its passlock so theives cant steal the car, nothing is stopping them from stealing whats inside the car factory alarm is a joke all you have to do is cut the wires to the horn which are easy enough to reach up under the front of the car and snip.
Sorry for your loss but I dont understand why insurance isnt covering it, something sounds fishy about that they should definitely if you have all receipts. If the thieves are dumb enough to strike twice hope they get a beat down, usually even the dumbest theives wont strike twice though.
