Went to check the tranny fluid, today. Loosened the back 6 bolts of the pan. Fluid started to flow out, let it drain for a half an hour.
I took out around seven quarts of tranny fluid. Put in the same amount back in.. Started the car and tried to shift into third to pull the car out of the garage. It almost seemed like it was not going through the gears right. It felt very loose. Put it in gear and no movement of the car, all gears. No leaks of any kind. Do you have any recomendation as to why this is happening or what it is???

Thanks so much for your help,

why would you be shifting it in third to get out of a driveway, or shifting through the gears manually anyways. Just put it in D.

Alright, first of all, what kind of tranny fluid did you use?

Second, did you replace the filter?

Third, did you check the level of the fluid after filling?

When you cant shift in and out of gear, its 90% related to low fluid levels. What i would do is, go out side, start the car, let it run for 5 mins, then get under the car, while its running, and take off the check valve, if nothing is coming out, its low, if its dripping, its perfect. If a lot comes out, then you over filled it.

Make sure the car isnt jacked up when checking the fluid level, it must remain level. You can put like 2 2x6s under each wheel so its easier for you to get under, but its still level. So 2 under each front and back wheels.

Also, after the fluid change, you are suppose to keep you foot on the brake and go through every gear for 15 seconds, so everything is recoated.

Let me know what you find out.
