Racing damage aftermath

To sum it up... Went to the track last Fri, pulled up to do a quick burnout, dropped the clutch, car goes pop. I ran anyway and noticed a whining & vibration. Limped to the booth, and my time was slow. Limped back to the tech area and popped the hood to be greeted to steaming coolant ****in out of the hose and a shreded serpentine belt. I thought the worst and guessed I might have trashed the tranny or water pump and was overheating too.

To get home, me and Dan (ihaveadopespecv) busted out some MacGyver skills... used a CD, sock, and vinyl. lol The CD was to reflect the light to see, sacrificied my sock to wipe the hot coolant from the leaky hose, and the vinyl dan bummed from the sticker cutters to seal the leak... here's the vinyled hose and what was left of my belt...

Here's what happened...

The belt must have shredded when I dropped the clutch, a thin piece ripped off. This piece got caught in the alternator, and ripped 3 cooling fins off. One of the fins got launched forward into my coolant line, cutting it.

Here is my alternator... which (luckily) is the cause of my vibrations. Off balance spinning things are not cool... although it sounds like I have a supercharger, the lack of power and vibration isn't cool.

I have a lifetime warranty on the alternator, so back it goes.

lol Somehow I knew that would come up. 16.4 @ 85 I kinda lost my concentration when I was busy thinking about how f-ed my car might be. Weak launch (red lighted too), didn't redline it after hearing the noise, and I don't think I ever shifted into 4th.
