I just got a bunch of money from graduation. Now it is time to hopefully buy some parts for my car. I was looking:

1.Headers
2.Larger TB
3.Exhaust (probably slp)
4.Struts/sway/springs/shocks

I will only have around 1500 I can spend so I want to get the cheapest stuff yet still of decent quality. The borla exhaust is right out. I was thinking a slp exhaust, maybe the S&S headers bsozpi was talking about, and I have no idea where to get the larger tb from.

This is where I have several questions. First, the headers bsozpi was talking about were $350 but it says they are for the 3.8l engines. Is it easy to do a custom modification to them to install them on my 3.4l engine. I have access to friends who are alot more knowledgeable than me about cars, so if it isn't too difficult they could do that for me. If not, I would have to drop another 250-300 dollars for headers for the 3.4. Second, I have on order a CAI from APOC. If I get a larger TB will the intake fit on it, or will I need to modify it. Third, where is the best place to pick up a large 62mm TB or would it be better to Port and polish my stock one(again I have friends who can do that kind of stuff). And last, everywhere I have looked the prices for struts and sway bars is way overpriced. I asked my friend who has an eclipse with the same stuff and he paid 1/3 of the price for the same stuff. I know there isn't as big of a demand for grand ams, but I would assume that it isn't to hard to put together metal bars for our car and spend 3 times as much in the process.

If anyone could help me out that would be great.

hmmm sounds like a plan. the only thing i gotta say is have your friends ever done porting and polishing on anything? because it can be done wrong. will they know how much to enlarge it? etc. just check around before handing your t-body over to some of your friends!

Install on headerse is gonna be huge...so unless you find some more cash that's a no-go. Get CAI, SLP, and sway bars...

Yeah scrap the headers idea....you will need more money.
CAI/SLP will do ya fine and have enough money left over to be happy.

Mods? What mods? I don't got no stinking mods... Seriously, I'm always on the lookout for newer-better parts.

Go with CAI, Exhaust, new plugs and wires, and the ported TB and UIM first and in that order. Exhaust all depends on what you want...sound and/or performance. There are many, many options out there, and most all of them are on this forum. Just use the search function. I personally love my SLP piping and Magnaflow muffler, but any one of them is a hell of a lot better than stock. Honestly, though, don't blow ALL of your cash on your car. If you really wanna do some modding, use about half of it and keep the rest in a savings account. You'll thank yourself later if you do.
