hey guys...i'm new to the board and new to the whole grand am gt thing. i haven't gotten mine yet, but as soon as my insurance company totals my bonneville then i will have a 2001 grand am gt. i live in springfield, il and am wondering if there are any grand am clubs or american car clubs around. i'm not so much into the **** burners anymore after i saw a cavalier kick a eclipse's ass last summer. i'm also wondering how modable the engine is...i'm wanting to get mine to at least 205 hp...and just like whatever means possible that's still semi-legal (ie no NO2). thanks...and i hope this board is cool!

This is the message board for Chicago area. This is the only one I can think of. There are lots of stuff you can do to your engine. Supercharger, cold air intake, you name it. If you have any questions, people with experience will tell you in "performance modification section".

it's easy to get to 205 in this car. it's rated at about 175 stock. i suggest getting borla exaust (full cat back) either a civic short ram or an APOC CAI. that should put you close to the mark. to get past that i'd get either some headers or if you have a bunch of $$ to spare get a supercharger from rsm.
