i have a coupe so the doors are pretty big and heavy i think. I've kind of got a crush on the lambo door hinge. Not the kind that opens up like wings all horizontal. I'm wondering if this is at all possible with the 2001 coupe and if any usable guides exist for doing something like that (such as grand am specific stuff).
I think besides looking different when you have it open, it's really much more convenient than having the huge door swing open or need to swing open to get out in parking spaces and near curbs and such. I'm thinking practicality here because It's only a matter of time before one of these days the door opens up and either damages another car or i damage my car, spending money on the conversion now makes more sense, and i fear it would be a lot of money.
It may be too different to be very comfortable, ie attract too much attention, but i've never seen any pics of the lambo door done to non-guinies - so anyone have some?
Check out the latest issue of HCI... they have a complete how-to Lambo door install on a civic that is completely bolt on and the article says the company makes them for a lot of cars and could possible make them for any car? couldnt hurt to contact them... ill see if i can find my copy and get the contact info if you would like. But no I havent seen anyone with lambo doors on a GA lots of Suicides but no Lambo.

I am pretty sure autoloc sells the lambo kit for around $1100 but be aware its not really for the faint of heart..lol

the video they had for the honda i believe on the site was kinda jerky. Not the video itself, but the door movement was jerky. Is this because they use a weak solenoid or whatever they're using? I was thinking that for 1,100 they would be opening and closing really smooth. The video's doors looked like the setup was home made, and quite slow.

There are universal kits you can buy but they still require some modifications to work with your specific car. I wouldn't get any of the motorized kits though. Just the one with the air strut and you open it by hand. I've been looking at a lot of cars at shows with lambo doors and been thinking of doing it to my car this winter, if I get the welding equipment I want. If it's not too hard to design and make then I may just make a kit, but don't quote me on that.;) This is still in the idea and design stage.

i wouldn't mind having to open it by hand and such. I'd prefer that than the jerky motions of whatever motor they had the one in the video on. If i'm going to have to end up welding and such, what exactly is 1,100 bucks that the kit provides? I'm sure the struts and such aren't that expensive. I thought it was that much because it's all bolt on. Would that not work on most coupe doors?
dpnt think 1100 os expensive the DeCah kit in HCI is 2,500 and thats pre fabbed for a specific car, to get it to fit, or custom made, for our car, it would probably be 3000-ish IMO, but I too have been considering this as my major mod for winter, that or a complete suspesnion system ... doors or ride? :-p

I think you would have to door-ding alot of cars and pay for fixing all of them before you even came close to the price tag for what you have planned....
Not bashing you plan, just the reasoning.

true true. I wasn't expecting such a high pricetag for the conversion. most of that is probably labor but still, it seems like it's gonna cost a whole lot for just the plans and parts. It goes on the backburner then, way back.

Don't ever think about opening your doors in an underground parking lot after that mod either...
