My friend told me that him and his club all got their cars minged. He said something about not having to wax it and how great it was. Has anyone done this?

I have Ming finish. It is awesome. Shines great like glass. The problems that will arise are that they recommend you use only touchless washes. Any scratches that are put into the Ming finish will be magnified like hell because the mirror finish will give it an appearance of being much worse. Overall, i still highly recommend it. It makes the car SHINE like crazy! Also it takes much less effort to wash and get the shine back. It lasts for like 5 years or something.

Edit: you are also never allowed to use wax on a ming finish. You will never need to anways, it is like a permanent wax.

You would have to go to a Ming auto beauty center to have this done. I couldn't give you an american estimate since mine was done in Canada. It is ever great for cars that have been driven a while too. Completely smoothes out all imperfections and takes out all the spider webbing and scratches in the clear coat. One of the greatest things you can have done. (however i do remember it being a bit pricey)

MING? Another for me to reasearch!

I just got my GA, just put a SD Ram Air hood on it & putting graphics on it next... then I will want a GOOD, deep "wet" shine, that "protects" the paint/graphics, and is low maintenance!

Sounds almost impossible... right... WRONG!!! As a matter of fact, I have been suggested about FIVE choices... and all seem to be great (from research I do on the Internet). To date, best choices include:

- Maguier's (step two, medallion, gold???)
- Blackfire
- Zaino's

OR

- Liquid Glass (that is suppose to last a year)...

AND

- GEM Industries AP-5 (Acrylic Teflon which lasts five years)... and now MING (which lasts five years?)...

Without all getting into "personal favorite battles," can anyone share with me some pros & cons... I sure do not want to get the wrong stuff & be sorry... but also "savor" the long lasting, low maintenance, deep/wet shine options (I am retired & not able to do it all myself.. I will have it done)!

Thanks much... : > )

I think Ming might be tha acrilic teflon stuff. You might have to ask them. It makes a WORLD of difference (just put a car that has it next to one that doesn't, the one that doesn't have it looks much worse) It is very low maintenance, since they forbid you from waxing it and the tell you to pretend as if it is a "permanent wax" (because it does look like it). A quick wipe with a chamois and a cotton cloth, and you will definatelty be blinded by your car each time you see it. I still get blinded by it after a year of the Ming stuff, and friends are amazed at the shine.

I cannot find a Ming Detailer here in Florida, or even the Southeast U.S., but I did find a car detailer here that uses the Gem Industries AP-5 product. It iz an Acrylic Teflon finish (just like Ming), that is also guaranteed for five years at a cost of $180 US. He is also throwing in two free car washes/touch-ups per year for the full five year period.

Unless I hear something negative, or see something "more positive," this is probably the way I am thinking I may go...
