Guess what came to my door this morning. 4 brand new JE pistons!!


What does this mean? My car can now get it's rebuild.

What kind of rebuild? One nukka hardcore rebuild!

I said one ported polished head, stainless wholesome goodness valves, some other crap, intake port matched to a 2.3L HO intake manifold, 62mm throttle body, JE pistons (the whole deal) , Eagle rods, Clevite 77 bearings, sexed up crank, balanced as balanced can be, and probably some random goodness that I neglected to tell you all.

Can we say I am a happy camper? Can we say that work on the new motor starts next week?

The motor is going into the machine shop tomorrow for the good deed.

Let me reiterate what'll happen

New forged internals, new engine bearings, balanced, crank polished and loved, some tiny incy bit of work to improve oiling.

the head is getting a lovely sexy port/polish... the valves are going to be slightly oversized, and have your typical 3 angle job...

oil pan is getting tapped for an oil line that will see future use..
battery is saying hello to its new home in the trunk
a new cold air intake is getting fabricated up
clearing all the engine codes :D
official 2.3HO intake debut & 62mm FDP/APOC throttle body

the turbo is going to have to wait.. I'll be pretty broke after this...

w/ this setup in the 1/4? I honestly don't expect to run much faster... but let's see...

SIKMINDZ runs 15.7 in tracks in california and runs 16.5 in LVMS..
I run 16.1 at LVMS...... and that's with intake, pulleys, 2.5inch exhaust, 9.7:1 compression.. I also dynoed that setup at 140hp & 145-147lb tq

now it'll be..
2.3HO log style intake manifold matched w/ the head
62mm throttle body
Trevtec special cold air intake.. (aka we're asking Mr. AEM intake to donate some aluminum.)
ported polished head
larger valves (3 angle job nonsense)
copper headgasket ( i do intend on running boost and these blow out at around 14lbs w/ the j-body guys)
balanced motor (9.5:1 JE pistons, Eagle H-beam rods, polished/lil lighter/lil better oiling action/kung fu grip on the crank, clevite 77 engine bearings)
battery relocated to the trunk
MSD DIS-II ignition
... tapped oil pan for something special down the road.. ( see I didn't forget about that future dream of boost, I just kinda need a running car right now :) )

still being thought out and cursed over *solution to balance shafts w/o going to mantapart, some miscallaneous *****

no idea on the 1/4 mile until I go out there and try..

You know my .02 - I'm betting 147 to 149 hp at the wheels, at about 5400 RPM. I also think you'll finally see those high 15's I've been running for 6 months now stock - I mean, you should be in the high 15.8 to low 15.9 range now, if you launch well.... ;)

third... my 2.3 cams are on there way ;)


I'm so freakin stoked that everything is finally coming together!!!! and it's going to have quite the hybrid mentality too. 2.3 cams, 2.3 intake, big ass throttle body from hell, new cold air intake... man this is a great time to be Spy...

This is definately going to be a nice lil street motor until I save up the cash to truly unleash it.
