shocks....and struts

whats the difference between a shock and a strut? My suspension is shot on the GA and Ive been looking around at pricing. Ive noticed that most places its the same thing shock/struts but ive seen seperate listings for shocks and struts. Im so confused what do i replace? Is it just 2 names for the same thing or what please help. :confused:

Shock absorbers do only that - absorb shock or impact. Struts do that as well, but they are also designed to be part of the vehicle stucture, and contribute to the structural integrity of the vehicle. You will be replacing struts.
