You can check out my threads about my Bermbo / EBC Saga. I think I am going to spring for the Powerslots up front.

I do however need to decide on a brake pad.

Performance Friction: I have heard the PF's wear much too quickly with the slotted rotors. I also know you can get them with a lifetime warrantee, but I live in an apt, so changing them would require me to borrow someone's garage/driveway all the time. The brake dust complaints also turn me away from them. I don't want to have to wash my rims twice a week.

EBC GreenStuff: I have these now, and I think these are the root of my warping problems with the normal Brembo Rotors. I have not been able to find anyone with the Brembo / EBC combo to see what their experience is/was. EBC claims to have little or no brake dust. This claim is way off base. My rims are black within a week. Price is also high, and my repeated attempts to contact them via email in regards to my problem with their pads have not yielded a single response. The emails have been very professional, and the tone more of an informational gathering one... no luck.

This leaves me to basic Carbon Metallic or Ceramic pads. I have heard good things about the Raybestos Quiet Stop ceramic pads. Would these work well (and last long) with the Powerslot rotors?

I am heading to Pa soon, and can have my soon to be brother in law (GM tech) help me out with the install. I only hope the current rotors and pads last that long.

I need any and all opinions...

If you don't want dust, don't get slotted rotors. Slotted rotors will give you more dust, whatever the pad you use.

Same comment apply to pad life. Any pad won't last as long on a slotted rotor as on a plain-face one.

Yup. :stupid:

Unless you use a super-hard pad compound, expect slotted rotors to cut pad life in half.

....but if I get a pad that is going to last much longer than say our stock pads, and put them on a powerslot, I should be able to get a couple years or 30K out of them right?

A ceramic pad will last what 50-60K? So 30K on a powerslot? I can live with 30K intervals.

Powerslots won't wear every pad down in 20k miles or less will they?

i just put the powerslots and brakes from pfyc and they sqeek(sp) pretty loud. Is this normal, or is there something wrong?

...oh, and I know that I'll have more dust, but if I buy a low dust pad, I could live with the little bit of extra dust from the slotted rotors.

Ceramics are OK to use on the powerslots right? Anyone use them and how much life did you get out of them? I'm not hard on brakes BTW.

So everyone here is running Powerslots with either EBC or PF pads?

I was hoping to get some comments from people using ceramic pads with their powerslots.

I have the powerslots and am using the performance friction pads. I've had that combo for 28K miles and I still don't have to replace the pads yet. I dunno about the brake dust, my wheels aren't that dirty from them and I'm pretty hard on the brakes.

28K... that's pretty good. How long did you take you to go through the stock pads?

And do you think you have a good bit left on the PF's?

I went thru the stock pads and rotors (warped) in 24K miles. Not sure about how much pad life I have left, I think maybe another 2-3K miles.

Hmm. Maybe I will try the PF's with the Powerslots then. I got like 28-29K miles out of the stock pads. From your experience, the PF's lasted longer with powerslots than the stock pads did with the plain faced rotors.

I'd be happy with the setup if I got 30K out of them.

Still would like to hear from someone who is maybe running Raybestos Ceramic (or really any brand ceramic) with the powerslots.

I have the power slot rotors and EBC greenstuff pads and they throw out virtually no dust at all. I didnt' get to wash my car for roughly 3 weeks because of my busy schedule and I was amazed at the low dust!!

Highly recommended!!

That is something I don't understand.

I have the EBC's now, and they dust like crazy. It is very noticeable after just a couple days and say 25-50 miles.

Do you have the powerslots??? Cause with brembos...who knows how the EBC's work with them. Hmmm...maybe it's just that they work better on a 96 GT...who knows. I am just telling of my personal experiance:D
