I'm starting to think that I should have a SUV for when I go back to school because of the snow. I was thinking of a Cherokee of some sort but don't know what are common problems or the going rate for them. Maybe along the lines of a '95 with a 100k. Are they even good at that mileage anymore? Does anybody know of a GA of SUV's. (means something that lasts awhile but can get cheap when its a couple years old.) Thanks for the help

We have a 99 Jeep grand Cherokee, and we had a 97 before that, im convinced the 97 would still be here today, but that thing had tranny problems, and no A/C (and my mom hit pole) Jeep's are absolutely great vehicles, they can do anything, and they feel really good driving wise, they do awesome in the snow as well

yea my friend had a 95 up there last year wiht 192k and it still drove fine but it was on its second engine, which is kinda expected. The steering was alittle sloppy when it was cold, but i didnt expect to be driving a ferrari, whats the going rate for them about 5 grand for lets say a 95 and 100k. Are transmissions issues with them just like every other Chrysler product?

An SUV for the snow? Just slap good tires on the GA and you'll be set. :) Seriously, I was pulling people out of ditches all winter, with my 89 Century RAT! Its the snow devil though. Unstoppable! But if you must go SUV, Jeeps are decent vehicles. I would agree that they have some of the typical Chrysler problems, but nothing too insane.

Do you have to get a Jeep?

Common Jeep problems, shifter. When you start it up it revs pretty high, if you put it into drive quickly you will/can take off without notice and run into something. It's happened more than once at the car wash I work at. Another one, mostly with older Jeeps, is that they have a bad seal around the back window. Only ones I know of.

i second that. when we were installing my drl kit at his house we needed to make a quick run to the store and this was the only car not being blocked in by my car (i wanted to take the z3). it drove good, except for when a bad driver rode it into a curb or four.

Cherokee Country is real nice my friend has one with 170k. Still give me a good in my GA. The 4.0 is a rock. One of my classmates got one with 275k. If you can get a Comanche pick-up

no i dont have to get a jeep, and i need something with 4 wheel drive. I'm going to a place that gets about 270 inches of snow a year so i need some ground clearance and traction.
