Okay, I got the latest issue of Car and Driver today, and there's a test which really caught my eye; no, not the one with the five imported roadsters, the one with that most-boring-looking of mini-utes, the Subaru Forester. The particular model they tested, the 2.5XT, shares the WRX's turbo powerplant. What caught my eye were the performance figures listed for the car: 5.3 seconds 0-60 and 13.8 sec @ 97mph through the quarter. Those figures match or beat EVERY ONE of the roadsters I mentioned before, namely the Audi TT, BMW Z4 3.0, Honda S2000, Nissan 350Z Touring, and the Porsche Boxster. I think that's just disgusting. I also think it's disgusting that in order to match that kind of performance, I'm almost certainly going to have to supercharge my car. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

The XT is a hot little cookie. Last month when we bought our Forester XS model (click herer for details) (http://www.grandamgt.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14641) , the XT was not released yet, only news that it was coming. The traffic on Forester forums was maybe 1-3 posts per day. In the past 2 weeks that the XT has been available, the forums have exploded to about 25-30 posts per day. I knwo that isn't much compared to this site, but for a Forester enthusiasts board, that is ALOT!
The XT does share the same power plant as the STi, but is detuned for more low-end torque and driver comfort since it is not a full fledged racer like the STi.
The worst thing about the XT is that Subaru is not offering the 5 speed tranny with the premium leather package or with the GIANT sunroof that extends over the front AND read seats!
