Installed fuel filter and question

Okay I didd everything all righ tI think and installed the fuel filter. It is all great firs time in a long tim eI don't smell gas in the car. Anyway, when putting the nut part back on the fuelfilter and tightening it went on very easy but there are still soem threads showing on the part that is connected to the fuel line. I do not smell or see any leaks or anything should I worry?
