Has anyone seen or used one of these: www.cool-collar.com?

Saw it on "Trucks" last weekend and am thinking about getting one. Seems like a nice little device to keep oil temps down and would work perfectly since the oil filters on the 3.4 are directly behind the radiator and fans. This would provide great air flow through the cooling fins.

I thought it was kind of strange at first, but then remembered that something similar was developed for Impala SS's for the radiator tank which did result in lowering coolant temps.

I checked with the Cool Collar and they do modify their existing collars to fit our filters--either the 47 or 52 sizes. Maybe this would be another reason to run the larger filters--more surface area from which to radiate heat.

Ohhh kay... so do we put a glob of thermal grease between it and the filter? i'll bet it would have an overall ONE degree drop for the system... But it will cause more turbulence and a .0001 added drag cooefficient taking .00023 off of your ET...

the duramax comes with an oil cooler from the factory..prety neat on how it works...water pump has pumps it through a pipe through the oil cooler, and the oil filter sits jut below it...its a good idea..just looks complicated for aftermarket
