Ok here's the deal.I purchased a set of American Eagle wheels from wheelguyz,17".They look great by the way with 215/45/17's.Anyway the fronts fit perfectly, the rears do not.Whats happening is the center bore size of the rim is to small from what i can see.The lugs tighten down snug (open lugs) but the back of the rim is not seated on the brake drum, hence my drums are ratteling like crazy.Ive spoken to several auto shops/part stores and they insist i need hubcentric rings which is definatly not the case.At 80 mph there isent even a shimmy in the wheel. The space is less then 1/4" from back of rim to drum.So my question is has anyone else ever had this problem? Is there a aftermarket spacer i can buy to fill the gap?Its not really a big deal if theres not a aftermarket part,a friend of mine can machine me down a alumimun spacer.
Please reply,

i heard this happen before, the drum getting in the way of the rims and whatnot, but fits perfectly on the gt since it has the rear disks, i think it has something to do with the offset

The centerbore of the rim is not large enough to fit over the hub, and there is no way to make it fit over the hub unless you bore that center out more. From what you are saying, how do they expect hubrings to make it fit??? Are they going to shrink a hub, or pull out the center of the wheel bore  The wheels center bore should go OVER the hub on the car, I think what they are trying to tell you is to get something to allow it to fit within the hub (if that would even be possible, my guess is the wheel centerbore isn't that small).
I honestly don't know what to tell you besides having the centerbore of the wheel drilled out larger.

Exactly,,hubrings are no use to me with this problem. The shaft/axle that comes through the drum sticks out to far for the wheel to sit flush on the drum. And yes,,i just found out that these wheels were designed for 4 wheel discs.
As for a fix,i dont think i know anyone capable enough to bore out the wheel and have it still be a true circle. So being theres only about a 1/4" gap im gonna have either a steel or aluminum spacer created at about 3/8" depth.Ill lose 1/8" on my lug bolts but the bolts stuck out about that much through the nuts so i dont think that would be a problem.

One more thing i want to add to this is the wheel bore does fit over the shaft but there is a lip on it and the depth of the wheel bore is to small to allow it to sit on the drum. What if i were to shave the the shaft down a 1/4",that would work,Would that hurt anything?

I bought from them, and I didn't have this problem... Did you contact Wheelguyz and let them know... They sent me a faulty tire, and gave me another one, and paid for the mounting and balance... I was very pleased...

I definatly called them right away and gave them hell for not realizing they were selling me wheels which were designed for disc brakes.I asked them atleast 4 times if the wheels would fit my car before i ordered them. The end result is they would be happy to take them back, less a restocking fee, plus the fact that i drove on them for about 5 miles before i realized there was a problem so they will automaticly charge me something for that.
Bottom line is it will cost me more to send them back then to come up with a fix.Its not that uncommon for people to add spacers.Ive been talking about this in several forums and ive gotten plenty of replys from people who have had to do what im about to do.

ohh that what the problem is....well if i remember correctly, since i did the rear disk break conversion on my se...the bore sticks out just as far on the disks and it does on the drums, i thought your problem was the actual drum hit the spokes of the wheel or something, if not you can just take that wheen to a machine store, they will do it for you for not too much ,reason being is, they put that sucker into a leigh, then it spins the wheel while a metal cutter just takes off the access metal that is not needed, really easy actually. My dad is a machinist so he does all this **** all the time

Problem solved!I had a spacer made this morning out of aluminum which fits over the lug bolts and is 1/4" by 1 1/2".Works perfectly,no more rattles!!
A lesson well learned for those looking to buy aftermarket wheels,MAKE SURE THERE DESIGNED FOR YOUR BRAKE SYSTEM!
I took into concideration bolt pattern and offset, never even thought about if they would fit over drum brakes!
Thanks for the replys!

I know that vip auto sells cast aluminum spacers for about 10 bucks. If you want standard aluminum you'll have to contact a machine shop and see if they can make you some.

so VIP Auto......I take it that's just a local parts place right....what size do I need for the 18" Eagle Alloy 077???? and how thick....1/4???

actually I found some that are 5/16 thick....but now I need to know if I need to put longer studs on????
Sorry for yelling but I had this exact same problem with my Eagle Alloys. There is an easy, easy and cheap fix to this. I had my dealership chamfer in centre bores of all four rims. It didn't need much taken out of it, just enough so the rims seated against the hub.
I think I was changed $15 to fix all four. Don't get spacers unless you need them. It changes the offset of your rim.
