(I'm a newbie and I wasn't sure where to post this? So I posted it here and on the newbie board. I'm not sure if this is allowed, nothing is said about it on the rules, thank you anyway)
I have a 2000 Grand Am GT, 3.4L V6. And I've recently put on a K&N air filter and a Magnaflow muffler. I plan to redo the piping and I've been asking some friends for advice. Everyone says something different, I think the stock piping is 2.25". I know some one recommended 2.5", but I was wondering if I should go bigger, maybe even a 2.75" or 3". What do you guys think? I don't care too much about sound, more performance, what size piping do you guys think would give me the most performance out of the car?
Next the Hypertech Powerstat 180* Thermostat, I was set on getting it then someone told me that it wouldn't be a good idea. I live in Ma. And it's cold here, really cold, 9 months outta the year it's freezing and your car having a good heater is extremely important. I heard that the powerstat actually makes your heater worse. Is this true? Are there really any negative effects on my heater or my ac with the thermostat? Or are my buddies just stupid?
