Anyone know if this will work?

i was looking at a 2000 Gt on the lot for sale and i noticed that they have a cup holder mounted in front on the arm rest. Looks just like its a peice you just take out and pop in. Is this right? If so i might have to look at the junk yard for it. I want that cup holder. I hate how mine is inmy 99. It still spills stuff at times.

they do sell cupholders that you can mount at alot of retail stores.. kmark, walmet, stuff like that.

In my 2000 GT there is the cup holder that you are describing. I'm guessing your car didn't come with one, or someone took it out and never put it back in. Someone probably has the part number....

Pontiac redid the cupholder sometime. Probably starting 2000 models. The rubber piece inside it comes out for easy cleaning.

The cupholder is removable up to sometime in 2002 (I think 2002, could be 2003..) . With the newer ones, its integrated into the console.

That part ## for the pre-integrated cupholder is in the part # section IIRC

the cupholder he is speaking of isn't really a cupholder like yours seth... like in my grand am, it was just a flat spot, if i remember correctly, he would have to change part of the console to make it like yours. but yes, i think he could make the change with a junkyard piece.

Before I trashed the 2001 console, the cupholder was just a little addon piece to that flat spot.

iceman is right. I have a 99. They have the flat spot. In 2000, Gm introduced the removable cupholder that sits in place where the flat spot is. In 2002, they started making a consol with an integrated cupholder.

I realize this thread has been dead for a while, but I've got a few questions about the center cupholder.

1. Does the insert from 00-01 just rest in the flat area?

2. Can the 02+ console be installed in a 99 without major modification?

3. Will either one hold a Biggie-sized drink or a 1 liter bottle?

Answer to # 2 is yes. No major modification needed. Bolts right up if i'm not mistaken. Same console, revised cup holder. That's all.

Hmmm, in my '02, I cant fit a 1 liter bottle in my cup holder, and I can't fit any of my coffee mugs in either(the handle doesnt let it sit in there) I never really liked it too much, and you cant really use the front 2 for anything but cans, and the ones for the backseat people seem to not hold cans that well. Arrgh...
