So anyways I'm flying down i-91 and this mercedes tries to pass me. We both gun it. 80, 90, 100, 110mph...then. As my engine hits 5100rpm, it feels like the gears are grinding or the engine is stuttering. So I ease off. It goes back down to about 3400rpm. fine. So I push it and keep it in 4th gear (dont floor it, just keep the peddle far enough so it doesnt shift). But at about 3500rpm it does it again. Mind you I never break 112mph. So I keep it cruisin at 110. I didnt like how it felt going around a couple corners (felt unstable. how to fix that? strut tower braces?). So I say hey i should close the sunroof. So I close it, and leave it at the vent position. Then I punch it again. I hit 116. So stutter. Then I hit some traffic and had to slow down.

Now I thought I remeber seeing that the governor is set to 130mph. So I doubt thats it.

I noticed that when its sitting at idle i can hear a whisteling noise (vaccuum leak?). And in neutral or park I cannot rev past 4000rpm.

Car has 65k on it and hasnt had the tranny flushed yet. Could that be a problem?

Well TIA guys.

First of all, u have a rev limiter, so u can' rev ur engine any higher then 4k in nutral or park, as for the other stuff, i don'tthink the limiter is at 130,..i thought it was about 110 or something, but i can'tremmebre, here we do it in km :D

thats what I figured about the 4k thing. I mean I've gotten to 115 before no problems (like these I just had). At 115 it did it. But this time it did it at 105, 110, and 115.

Our governers cut off at 126mph IIRC... I've got to 125 and then some pending the downhill slope..

it cuts off at 120 in the gt and 110 in the se, but anything after 100 and our speedo becomes inaccurate so you can read upwards of 130 (especially on 696 right mike?)

SE's are 110 GT's are somewhere around 130. this is due to tire speed ratings. I really have no idea what your problems could be. if you think it could be a vacume leak go have it checked out.
