I searched around for threads about this but didnt find anything really...
I got H&Rs and have been told theres a chance i would need new struts. What is the deciding factor in this?? How will i know/How can I tell if i'll need them??
If anyone could give me the complete 411 on this situation that would be great.

Brian If you have 10K miles on your struts, replace them. Weak or questionable struts and lowering springs, do not mix.;)

I dont have 10k, i got 48k so i should be good right?? just kidding.
:( damnit, would this be the same for eibachs? They dont drop as much, i kinda dont wanna buy struts on top of what i paid for the springs.

Brian You could try, but you would be better off replacing the struts. You could buy a set of KYB struts for a little over $100. ;) Correction. I meant $100 for a pair.
$100? A set is $250 on PFYC......Do you mean $100 a pair or is there somewhere you can find them cheaper?

That would be fine if he had a 97 GA but he has a 99+ SE so he has 4 struts (2-front 2-rear) instead of 2 as your 97 has... that makes this mod a little more expensive for us.
But since you have 48k on your current struts you could put on the springs knowing that they might need replacing if you don't like the ride....
When you lower a car you are effectively changing the spot on the strut tube that affects its dampening effects. According to information i learned years ago in a magazine article related to lowering; you can lower a car a max of 2in. before you have to start buying parts specifically made to keep your cars suspension working like it is supposed to....you ever seen a ricer that was lowered 4-5in and the upper part of the tires were angled into the wheel well (excessive negative camber). Means bad handling and shorter tire life....
So remember to when you lower your car it's always a good idea to research the best suspension components to get you there...

I went through the same question you are, and I'm glad I bought the KYBs too. My stock struts had less than 20k on them, and I couldn't believe how shot they were when I took them off.
